CB Draft Notes

The player note information for cornerbacks gives you a little more information that other positions. You have the normal “how likely you are to be penalized” as well as how aggressive your cornerback will play the ball.

Penalty Rating

  • Known to attract flags = Penalty – Undisciplined
  • Typically avoids getting flagged = Penalty – Normal
  • Almost never penalized = Penalty – Disciplined

Play Ball In The Air Rating

  • Struggles to find the ball in the air = Plays Ball In The Air – Conservative
  • Maintains poise at the catch point = Plays Ball In The Air – Normal
  • Always looking to intercept passes = Plays Ball In The Air – Aggressive

Will an “A” play recognition grade result in a minimum rating of 90 for cornerbacks? Or is that a typo?

Thanks for the reply, and I appreciate the time you put into this scouting tool. It makes my player evaluation process a lot smoother.

Are you saying no corner will get an A play play rec? I’m asking because I have one. It’s the player I’m asking about later in this thread. I’m asking because if what you’re saying is true and I found one, then maybe perhaps I’ve found a gem?? I’m still thrown that his physicals seems to be lower than I’d like accept for his acceleration which is elite.

Question! I’m scouting CB’s and I 100% scouted a guy that doesn’t have the greatest physicals (speed, agility decent-solid) and only the acceleration is great-elite). Man is a C, Zone is a D, but his awareness, play rec and kick return are an A. He’s a 6’3”, 22 year old staff recommended player for me to focus on and his talent is top 5 even though his projection is round 1-2. What do you think he can be? Is he generational talent material or prime for a position switch to like safety? His speed, agility and man coverage ratings potential scare me, but the upside seems obvious.

Ok and I agree with the physicals, that’s why I’m having a hard time with this one. He has the height and acceleration. It’s just the speed that’s getting me. Usually the prospect to watch players tend to be high overalls, so I guess I’m combining that with the top 5 talent and wondering if he’s a gem. According to your chart if he’s a top 5 talent then he is at least a 76 or above. That’s seems like a good starting point.
