Madden 17 Defense: 3-4 Bear Pinch Dog 3 Part 1

Madden 17 appears to be favoring overloads and edge pressure this year with addition of the “Nano Blitz Detector.” The blitz we are going over in this tip is a good 5 man pressure that overloads the right side of offensive line and drops everyone on the left into coverage.

We’ve got the full breakdown below.

Playbook: Any 3-4 Playbook

Formation: 3-4 Bear

Play: Pinch Dog 3

Setup:

1. – Base Align
2. – Slide your defensive line to the right + Crash the defensive line to the middle
3. – Blitz the MLB #2
4. – Drop your ROLB into coverage

Overview:  This blitz is good for 3rd and long situations where the offense is sending 5 guys out on routes.  The coverage is slightly weak on the right side of the field but you have good pressure and the left side of the field is locked up.

Let’s break it down a little further.

This is how the defense will look to your opponent pre-snap.

Right away, we see the edge pressure and our linebacker coming in free off the right edge.

The play results in a sack and a loss of 10 yards.
