One of the hardest things for an offense to protect against is a blitz that could come from either side of the field. In a previous Madden 16 tip going over the 5-2 Normal, we went over how to bring pressure from the left side of the field.
Today, we are going to go over how you can bring the same kind of pressure from the right side of the field as well.
Playbook: Detroit Lions
Formation: 5-2 Normal
Play: Cover 3 (Right Side Pressure)
Setup:
- Base Align
- Spread your defensive line and crash them down
- Hot route your LE (On the right side of the screen) to a yellow zone
- Spread your linebackers
- Blitz your OLB (on the left side of the screen)
Overview: This play brings heat from the right side. The left side of the screen will be extremely vulnerable so take one of the guys in the yellows zones and patrol the left side.
Let’s take a look at this step by step.
You’ll immediately notice that our formation looks extremely balanced. It is hard to tell whether we are blitzing or dropping into coverage and if we are blitzing which side we are coming from.
Right after the ball is snapped, we see the pressure come from the right side of the screen from one of our defensive tackles.
The plays ends in a sack before the quarterback has a chance to get the ball out.
