Unknown Defenses With Potential To Win You Games In Madden 18

Madden 18 puts a premium on playing solid defense. Madden 18’s new gameplay features and improvements such as coaching adjustments and CB-WR best-on-best match-ups means playing good defense can win you some games. Luckily, the pros at Madden School know as much about spotting great defense as they do deadly offense. Today, we’re looking at a few unknown defenses with potential to win you games in Madden 18.

Chicago Bears

The Bears have a lot of young players on their roster. You might not have known that the Bears defense has several players with decent overall ratings, and young players with plenty of potential. The Chicago Bears run a 3-4 defense, and their personnel is finally starting to match their scheme. Even though the defense doesn’t have any players rated in the 90’s, they are loaded with players rated 80 overall and higher.

The Bears front seven on defense is by far the strongest group of players on the team. MLB’s Jerrell Freeman and Danny Trevathan, OLB Pernell McPhee, DT/NT Eddie Goldman, and LE Akiem Hicks all have overall ratings in the 80’s. The secondary looks to have improved as well. The additions of Quentin Demps at SS and Prince Amukamara at CB fill two of the glaring holes that made the Chicago defense ineffective at stopping the pass in last year’s Madden 17.

The Bears are certainly an unknown defense with potential to win you games in Madden 18.

Jacksonville Jaguars

I know we’ve talked a lot about the Jacksonville Jaguars recently, but they keep slipping under the Madden community’s radar. If we’re talking defense’s with potential, then they’re definitely worth discussing. They added some big name defensive impact players in DE Calais Campbell and CB AJ Bouye. The defense will undoubtedly be the strongest unit between the offense and defense.

Jacksonville has good young players to build around at nearly every position on the defense. OLB’s Telvin Smith and Myles Jack are both young and have a lot of potential (FYI: Jack is now listed as a MLB).

When you add in the Jaguars secondary with CB’s Jalen Ramsey and the aforementioned AJ Bouye, Jacksonville’s defense certainly has the potential to win you games in Madden 18.

Los Angeles Rams

It was no secret that the Rams had a decent defense in last year’s Madden 17, but it looks like they might be even better in Madden 18. Of course having Aaron Donald starting the season with a 99 overall rating helps, but there are plenty of other players on this defense worth mentioning.

MLB Alec Ogletree has lots of speed to shut down those outside runs. The now OLB Robert Quinn helps make up a group of LB’s that are fast and can make plays for your team. Quinn is definitely a pass rushing OLB in the new 3-4 defensive scheme the Rams are reportedly shifting over to, but he has the ability to cover the flats given his speed and agility.

These are only three defenses with potential to win you games in Madden 18. You can’t necessarily bet on their offenses to give you much help, so if you’re playing with any of these three teams, your defensive units will have to step up.

As always, there are others worth mentioning. Which defenses do you feel have the potential to win you games in Madden 18? Tennessee’s defense comes to mind as does Denver’s. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Interception for a pick 6 but as soon as I intercept (sometimes) my player stops and the play is over. I don’t get it.

Same goes for fumbles as soon as my team recovers a fumble the player doesn’t have a chance to run after recovering it, again i say (sometimes) but still NOT ok it’s really straight bull shit this year. Pros and cons like every year but come on madden this is bull shit. I’ve lost a few games to this bull shit so please help a brother out and get to fixing the problem I’m ranked 164 online head to head and I would be killing it in the top 100 if it weren’t for half the bull shit that this year came with.

My player recovers fumble and whistle blows even when he has a chance to run with it.
