EA Sports announced a few changes to Madden 20 gameplay from what they’ve earlier announced and from what we were able to play in the beta.
You can check out some of the highlights below.
- New block and release mechanic for tight ends
- Tuned cut moves on post and corner routes to make them more effective against man to man coverage
- Tuned pass leading for quarterbacks with pass lead abilities
- The conductor ability is no longer unlimited. Instead it provides 2 changes at a time
- Tuned stiff arm for running backs with the arm bar ability
- No change to pass rush
- No change to quickness of passing animations
- No change to how zones play
- No change to RPOs and lineman illegally downfield
We also know that there will be a new 5th year option for rookies in franchise mode. Unfortunately that isn’t coming until a title update later in the year.

I really think there should be a defensive zone adjustment called middle zone or drag read that focuses on shallow crossers or drag routes.

Fix the drag zone coverage, AI against rising QBs, clean up the olinemen pass blocking. The freed up right guard should not go the left tackle who is not struggling and also has the RB there for help. Pass blocking looks okay but those issues are serious because they can determine a play.
Also could care less about the pro bowl. Ive played madden since madden 99. 2006-07 was awesome. I’m a diehard franchise guy but the game is hard to play. I gave up on 19 because the gameplay was awful. My mindset used to be alright the gameplay is good but the franchise is dull. That’d okay cause you’re having good gameplay. Not the case from 17-19. The franchise needs alot, ALOT of additions to it. Who cares about the pro bowl. Didnt play it in madden 07. Always simmed it. Let’s get more immersive in the scouting, add coordinators, better storylines, let’s give the retirees some love, and for the love of God lets get a little more creative with free agency. I shouldn’t be able to see oh hey the chargers are offering so and so a 108 point offer… wtf. The player should choose. Veterans want championships so they choose a good team for less pay rather than the dolphins who can break the bank for them.

Why does the game and play clock go down every play EVEN with accelerated clock OFF! Also half my players have the WRONG jersey number and it’s clear what number they should already have been
