Run Pass Options (RPOs) are a hot new feature in Madden 20. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, you have the option on an RPO to either run the ball or pass the ball depending on what you read from the defense.
In today’s Madden 20 tip, Mazin is going over one of his favorite RPOs in Madden 20, and walking you through how to execute it.
This play can be found inside of the Baltimore Ravens offensive playbook. Our first Madden 20 ebook features 6 formations and 40 plays all found in that playbook. If you haven’t already given it a look, check it out!
Playbook: Baltimore Ravens
Formation: Singleback Wing Slot
Play: Dive Alert Bubble
Setup: None required
Reads:
- Look to see if the bubble screen is open right away. If you do plan on making the pass, you’ll want to get rid of it quick
- If he isn’t open, go ahead and hand the ball off to your running back and follow your blockers
Overview: With any RPO you will want to look for the pass first and then the run second. If you wait longer than couple seconds to throw the pass, you will get an illegal lineman downfield penalty.
Let’s take a look at some screenshots to get a better idea of how this play works.
This is how the defense looks before we snap the ball. As you can see, we don’t know yet whether we should pass or run.
We can see that our quarterback is only 2 steps into his drop back and the 2 outside cornerbacks are crashing down on the dive. We immediately throw the ball to our B/circle receiver.
Our outside receiver makes a great block on one of the cornerbacks.
When we do catch the ball, we have a lot of open room in front of us.
The play ends in about a 14 yard gain and a first down.

Literally didn’t mention how to execute it. I choose the play, and they just hand off. What do I do to get my QB to pass it?
Press the icon of the receiver you want to pass it to
Really??
To pass it, you just press the button to pass. If you want to run, don’t press anything and your QB will hand it off.
