Cover 3 is the most common defense you will face in Madden 19 so you’ll need at least a few ways of beating it. In this tip, we are going over a concept that has worked in previous Madden games that still works in Madden 19 to get a guy wide open against cover 3.
Check out the full breakdown below.
Playbook: Buffalo Bills
Formation: Gun Bunch
Play: Deep Corner
Setup:
- Max Protect
- Put the RB/R1 receiver on a streak
- Put the X/Square receiver on an out route and smart route him
Reads:
- The read on this play is the B/circle receiver deep on the post. Lead pass to the sideline as he crosses the safety.
Overview: If your opponent keeps coming out with a single high safety look, this play will result in either a huge gain or an automatic touchdown. The Streak holds the Safety in the middle of the field and the out route brings down the cornerback leaving the post wide open.
Madden School Unlimited members will get a breakdown tomorrow of a unique and extremely effective way of beating cover 3 defenses! It even beats the popular end of half/end of game defense “Quarter 3 Deep – Man Up 3 Deep” for a touchdown!
Be on the lookout for that tomorrow. If you aren’t yet a member, now is a great time to sign up!
Let’s take a closer look at how this play works.
This is how the play art should look before we snap the ball. We have a good idea the play is going to work because there is only 1 safety deep in the middle of the field.
Our receiver on the left makes his break to the sideline and the cornerback responsible for the deep left third of the field goes to cover him.
That leaves our B/circle receiver open as he runs across the field. Lead pass away from the safety.
Our receiver makes an easy catch.
We have enough room to get to the sideline and get into the endzone for a touchdown.
