Singleback Spread, Double Y Open, and Doubles North

Formation: Singleback Spread

Play: Deep Outs

Setup:

  1. Drag the X/square receiver and quick snap

Reads:

  1. Your first read is the A/X receiver on the crossing route
  2. Then look to the Y/triangle receiver on the post
  3. Your next read is the X/square receiver
  4. Then look to the B/circle receiver on the out route

Overview: This is a good route combo with two drags and a post.  Just read the user, one of the routes should be wide open.

Formation: Singleback Spread

Play: Smash Corners

Setup:

  1. Slant the X/square receiver
  2. Block your HB

Reads:

  1. Your first look is the B/circle receiver on the hitch route
  2. Then look to the A/X receiver on the corner
  3. Finally, look to the X/square receiver on the slant if everything else is covered.

Overview: This is just a simple high low read between the hitch and corner route. Whichever route the flat zone takes, throw to the other receiver.

Formation: Singleback Spread

  1. Your first look is to playmaker the Y/triangle hitch route (see video)

Formation: Singleback Doubles Y Open

Formation: Singleback Doubles Y Open

Play: Inside Cross

Setup:

  1. Max Protect
  2. Put your B/circle receiver on a slant route

Reads:

  1. Look to the A/X receiver on the drag route
  2. Then look to the B/circle receiver on the slant
  3. Your last read is the X/square receiver on the in route

Overview: This is a great route combo because you have quick checkdowns if you get blitzed and that distracts the user. And then the X/square route that sneaks into a soft spot between basically any zone coverage for an easy completion if you get time.

Formation: Singleback Doubles North

Play: HB Pitch

Setup:

  1. Motion the wr on the right to the left and snap after he passes the tackle (see video for timing)

Overview: This play can result in big yardage and it will make your opponent worry about the pitch for the rest of the game.

Formation: Singleback Doubles North

Play: Slot Corner

Setup:

  1. Block your running back

Reads:

  1. Your first read is the A/X receiver on the drag
  2. Then look to the B/circle receiver on the post route
  3. Then look to the Y/triangle receiver on the corner route
  4. Your last read is the X/square receiver

Overview: Similar to doubles flex we are trying to give the defense another look by passing, this play has some good routes to catch them off guard.
