Kickoff returns are way too easy in Madden 25. If you play against someone with any sort of skill, you will notice about 1 out of every 4 kickoffs are returned for touchdowns. In today’s free Madden 25 tip, we are going over a way to stop that from happening.
Check out the full breakdown below.
Playbook: Any
Play: Kickoff Middle
Setup:
- Put the kicking arrow all the way up and to the left
- Flick down on the right stick and quickly to the left (see the video for exact timing)
Madden School Pro Tip: Substitute a guy with high sped and hit power ratings in the far left kickoff spot. This will help you force more fumbles.

need some money plays or rout out off the pistol thank you
Everyone online does this. It’s so irritating. I just fair catch every time. I’ll take the ball at the 32.
how is the glue coverage defense done and is there a way to get some pressure so the qb cant sit there all day till someone gets open
I must say that even though it is true that they may get it at the 40, it’s better than giving up six. I used to play with the Giants for a while and when they played teams like Philly and other teams with fast return people. I would give up at LEAST 2 tds every game. I have used this tip and don’t give up nearly as many. Playing with the Seahawks helps…but hey…good vid bro….keep up the good work.
So this is a great tip and Ive seen that its a strategy which is gaining some popularity. So the next question naturally is: How do you combat it when you are “receiving/returning” the kickoff?. One strategy discussed in the comments is to let it bounce out of bounds to incur the penalty, but Ive found that this is Hi-Risk (in typical Madden fashion the ball usually ‘magically’ stays in bounds-and has a hi probability of being recovered by the kicking team). Another tactic is to call a Fair Catch and take the ball at the 30 (+10 yards from a normal Touchback)…but are their any strategies involving moving ur returner up into position to get this kick? Moving the TE away and THAN moving your returner up seems pretty hard…and when you’ve got a great returner like Hester, this kind of kickoff is a pretty frustrating tactic…
Good kick. But bad. Running
