It is now officially confirmed that Madden 17 will not feature online team play. The popular game mode is commonly referred to as OTP throughout the Madden community.
Madden NFL 17’s creative director, Rex Dickson, took to Twitter to confirm the news.
@NYJShutDownD Madden 17 won’t have OTP, but it is very high on our list. Just want to blow it out right when we do it vs. rushing it.

Although he hinted that it may make it’s way into Madden 18, he also noted that it is way too early to make any promises.
Online team play was not in either Madden 15 or Madden 16 but it was such a hit in previous versions of the game that many fans have been asking for it back for the last 2 years.
For those of you unfamiliar with OTP, it is a game mode where you and 2 friends can play a 3v3 game against another set of 3 friends online.
Madden 17 is scheduled for release on August 23rd, 2016 on the PS4, XBOX One, PS3, and XBOX 360. For more Madden 17 information, check out our Madden 17 news center.
I will definitely not purchase another madden until 3vs3 is back. That was the best part about the game. Make it happen EA! Fix ur servers too while ur at it.
Yep I wish 2KSports could have NFL liscense because EA is late in everything. I hope the OTP “you’re building” is worth this time you’ve wasted. I bought every year every time, but I haven’t since madden 25. And like everyone else I’ll wait too.
So…… you need to fire the programmers basically because you had team play a few years back again you already had the feature which people liked !!!! and now with better technology a better game system on both xbox and ps platforms and you can’t code a feature in 12 months that was a huge hit??? fire the program team that is unacceptable.
thank you on madden mobil
bring community team play back it was a great expierance
Can you play online H2H matchups?
