Playbook: Kansas City Chiefs
Formation: Nickel 335
Play: LB Cross 3
Setup:
- Press Coverage
- Pinch the defensive line
- Slant inside the defensive line
- QB Contain
- Put the linebacker on the right side in any zone
- Put the linebacker on the left side in any zone
Overview: Now we have a great blitz added to this formation to top off the amazing run defense and coverage defense we have as well. This play only blitzes 4 people and brings heavy pressure to the QB.
And remember you can and should still run the Cover 1 Robber Press play from this formation that we covered earlier in the Run Defense section of the ebook.
These blitzes I assume all have the Default adjustment to base align? Is that correct?
What about the zone drop adjustments when running this? Don’t change them?
It depends on what your opponent is doing. For the purple zones, you may want to adjust the depth a little bit to like 15 or 20 yards if they are beating you with corner routes.
