Madden School Film Room: Destroy Cover 3 With This New Concept

In today’s Madden School Film Room tip, we are going over a concept that can absolutely destroy cover 3 defenses if your opponent isn’t using zone drops.

Playbook: Cleveland Browns

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: PA Shot Post

Setup:

1. Put the X/Square receiver on a smoke screen
2. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a fade
3. Put the B/O receiver on a drag
4. Put the A/X tight end on a streak

Reads:

1. The main target on this play is going to be the Y/Triangle receiver 
2. If that isn’t there check down to the B/O receiver on the drag route 

Overview: In this video we go over a way to completely destroy Cover 3 defenses. As shown the outside third is going to come down on the smoke screen even though he is supposed to play deep. Use a receiver with some speed on the fade route.

A couple other things to note:

1. If your opponent uses zone drops or protect the sticks, this concept will not work.
2. You will want to use a fast receiver on the fade route.
3. This concept can be done from a bunch of different formations and isn’t limited to this specific formation.
