Madden 21 Gun Pack Trips Mini Scheme

In this week’s Madden School Film Room, we are breaking down a nice scheme out of the Gun Pack Trips formations in Madden 21.

Check it out below!

Playbook: Green Bay Packers

Formation: Gun Pack Trips

Play: HB Angle

Setup: (Cover 4 Beater)

  1. Hor route your A/X receiver to a steak and motion him to the left.
  2. Hot route your RB/R1 receiver to a curl.
  3. Hot route your B/circle receiver to an out route and smart route it.
  4. (Optional) Block your running back.

Reads:

  1. Against all cover 4 coverages (including cover 4 drop) your main read on this play is your X/square wide receiver on the post route.
  2. You can also fit in a low ball pass to your RB/R1 receiver on the curl route.

Overview: This is your go to passing play against Cover 4 Drop!

Playbook: Green Bay Packers

Formation: Gun Pack Trips

Play: Double Ins

Setup: (Cover 2 Beater)

  1. No Setup Required.

Reads:

  1. Against Cover 2, pass it to your RB/R1 receiver on the right sideline. Make sure to get the timing down in practice mode to make sure you can fit this ball in during a game. The key is to pass lead it to the right and RAC catch it up the sideline (as shown in the video).

Overview: Here is another coverage beater that you can use when you know youre opponent likes to run Cover 2 Defense.

Playbook: Green Bay Packers

Formation: Gun Pack Trips

Play: HB Base/Inside Zone

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Motion your A/X receiver to the left like you did for HB Angle.

Reads:

  1. Follow Your Blockers (Pulling guard in HB Base).

Overview: This is your running game in this scheme. Whether you want to get yards on third and short or sneak a run play when your opponent is thinking pass, these are two good options to get the job done.

Playbook: Green Bay Packers

Formation: Gun Pack Trips

Play: Packer Smash

Setup: (Cover 3 Beater)

  1. (Optional) Hot route your B/circle receiver to a smoke screen

Reads:

  1. You primary read on this play is your Y/triangle receiver as he breaks towards the sideline
  2. If your opponent is playing zone drops far back, throw it to your B/circle receiver on the hitch/smoke screen.

Overview: The corner route on this play gets deep enough to get past a base Cover 3 sky which will force your opponent to play their zone drops deep to stop it.

Playbook: Green Bay Packers

Formation: Gun Pack Trips

Play: Curls

Setup:

  1. Hot route your RB/R1 receiver to a slant and motion him to the left. Snap it right after he passes the Left Tackle (as shown in the video).
  2. (Optional) Block your running back.

Reads:

  1. Your first read is your RB/R1 on the slant.
  2. Your second read is your A/X receiver on the post.
  3. Your third read is your X/square receiver on the curl route. This is a great option vs man to man coverage.

Overview: This is your usering beating play. Having a slant and post crossing each other will put your opponent in a tough position. Throw it to whichever receiver they leave open. If you can see that they are running man to man coverage (especially man blitz) throw it to your X/square receiver just as he breaks back on the curl route.
