It is always nice to have a few Madden 17 tips that are basic and don’t have a bunch of things to do before the snap. In today’s free tip, we are going over a play that has easy reads and gets 2 guys open against pretty much any coverage in Madden NFL 17.
You can check out the full breakdown, setup, and reads below.
Formation: Singleback Bunch
Play: HB Angle
- Put your X/square receiver on a deep out route
- Your first look is the A/X receiver on the corner route. He will be open against pretty much every coverage except a cover 2
- Your second look is your X/square receiver on the deep out route. He will be open against cover 2 defenses
- Your last look is your running back coming out of the backfield. He will be open against any zone coverage in Madden 17.
Overview: This is a really easy play to implement into your offense. The reads are extremely simple. The only thing you have to worry about is a fast blitz because it can take a little time to develop and you don’t have any extra blockers.
Let’s take a deeper look at this play.
This is how the final play art should look right before you snap the ball.
Right after the snap, we notice two things. First, the defender is jamming our receiver on the corner route. Second, the cornerback on that side of the screen has turned his back and is dropping deep.
That means it is likely a cover 3 defense so we know our A/X receiver on the corner route should get open.
You can see our 2 main passing lanes and how open they are. We can throw to either our receiver on the corner route or our running back over the middle.
We go to the corner route and pick up about 15 yards.

Nice effective tips!
How do you put the x/square receiver on a deep put route?
You first put him on a regular out route and then you use the smart route which is y/triangle + X/square + R1/RB
