Gun Empty Ace Patriot

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Empty Ace Patriot

Play: Pats X Slant

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Use The TE Flip package
  2. (Optional) Sub in your #1 running back as the far right outside receiver
  3. Hot route your B/circle receiver to a streak route
  4. Hot route your Y/triangle receiver to a drag route

Reads:

  1. Your first read is always the A/X tight end on the slant to the corner. He is going to be open against 99% of coverages unless your opponent user covers him
  2. If he is covered, you can look to either the drag or the slant route
  3. Another decent option against zone is your other tight end on the seam route.

Overview: This is the main play we are going to call out of this formation.  It is incredibly hard to stop.  It is usually good for 5-15 yards every time.

Formation: Gun Empty Ace Patriot

Play: Smash Corner

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Use The TE Flip package
  2. (Optional) Sub in your #1 running back as the far right outside receiver
  3. Hot route your B/circle receiver to a streak route

Reads:

  1. Your primary read on this play is always your RB/R1 receiver underneath
  2. If he is covered, you can look to your X/square receiver

Overview: This play is extremely consistent but it is usually only good for about 5-7 yards.  The main purpose in running this play is to make sure our opponent can’t key in on the Pats X Slant play.

Formation: Gun Empty Ace Patriot

Play: WR Screens

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Use The TE Flip package
  2. (Optional) Sub in your #1 running back as the far right outside receiver

Reads:

  1. Your main read is always the B/circle receiver who is actually a running back

Overview: This play works really well against zone defenses and you can sometimes break a big gain with it.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Empty Ace Patriot

Play: TE Cross

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Use The TE Flip package
  2. (Optional) Sub in your #1 running back as the far right outside receiver
  3. (Optional) Put your X/square receiver on a drag route

Reads:

  1. Your main read is the A/X tight end over the middle. Eventually he should get open

Overview: This is a great play to mix in because our primary tight end is attacking the middle of the field instead of the outside of the field.

Formation: Gun Empty Ace Patriot

Play: Pats DBL In

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Use The TE Flip package
  2. (Optional) Sub in your #1 running back as the far right outside receiver
  3. Put your B/circle receiver on an in route

Reads:

  1. Your first read is always the A/X tight end quickly over the middle.
  2. If he is covered look to either of the other 2 in routes over the middle

Overview: This is just another play to mix into the scheme to make the other plays even harder to defend against.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Empty Ace Patriot

Play: Stick Nod

Setup:

  1. Hot route your RB/R1 tight end to a slant route

Reads:

  1. You are going to want to read between your 2 tight ends. At least one of them should get open

Overview: This is a really hard play to defend against especially when you mix it in with the other plays from this formation.

The is a sick ebook! I love this formation the most bc of the personnel. After you sling it through the air awhile your opponent will start coming out in a nickel/dime package and the. You can audible this right back to a power run formation and pound the rock. Really puts a lot of stress on opposing defenses.

If I’m running this formation in Hurry Up, are there any good plays that work the other side of the field with those two receivers?

What does “Use The TE Flip package” mean?
