“Defense wins championships.” That phrase is especially true in Madden. Offense is fun and gets most of the attention but if you have a dominant defensive scheme, you can win game after game with relative ease.

Pittsburgh Steelers Defensive Playbook
The Steelers defensive playbook is definitely improved. The most notable addition is the Nickel 1-5-5 DBL A-Gap formation which is brand new to Madden 22.
They also have some of the usual solid defensive formations that most players like to have.

Multiple D Defensive Playbook
The Multiple D Alternative playbook has always been one of the best defensive playbooks in Madden, and it continues that tradition in Madden 22.
Although it is unchanged from previous years, as the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
They have a little bit of everything but here are some of the best formations in the Madden 22 Multiple D defensive playbook:
Nickel 3-3-5, Nickel 3-3-5 Wide, and Dollar 3-2-6 are all very popular defensive formations so you have some flexibility with this playbook.
New England Patriots Defensive Playbook
The Patriots Madden 22 defensive playbook is also relatively unchanged from previous years but it is one of the most versatile team defensive playbooks in the game.
You have a good mix of both 3-4 and 4-3 formations as well as useful Nickel and Dime formations as well.
Here are some of our recommended formations from the Madden 22 New England Patriots defensive playbook:
3-4 Bear, Dime 1-4-6, and Nickel 3-3-5 Odd are always great formations with good blitzes and coverages plays in them.

It’s almost as if there is no defense. If they run you WILL NOT stop them. Fakest, most broken version of the game since madden 07.
Ya my run game is amazing and very difficult to stop and I have also had a very difficult time stopping the run and deep plays even with All star cornerbacks

I used to have the TOP defense in any of my leagues and now, on Madden 22 I can’t stop the pass sometimes I may luck up and get a pick or whatever but completely dominating the offense with my defense doesn’t happen anymore I need guidance on understanding how to use my drop coverages and which coverage is the best to use/ and why……
its more important than ever to practice your “usering” a lb or safety because the cpu will make guys with 90 awareness and play recognition run around like forrest gump unless you switch to them. if you build teams with fantasy drafts forget awareness as an important stat. speed is everything.
