- Hot route your B/circle receiver to a flat route
- (Optional) Hot route your Y/triangle receiver to a slant route or drag route
- Motion your tight end out to the right and snap the ball right after he gets set
Reads:
- Your main read on this play is your tight end on the corner route. He should get open against 90% of coverages you will see
- If he is covered, look to your Y/triangle receiver on the drag route
Overview: Make sure to have a decent tight end or receiver at the A/X position. Good route running really helps here.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Singleback Tight Slots
Play: Drag Cross Ups
Setup:
- Hot route your X/square receiver to a streak route
- (Optional) Block your running back
- Motion your Y/triangle receiver out to the left and snap it right when he gets set
Reads:
- Your first look is always your Y/triangle receiver. He will usually be open when he breaks up field against man to man coverage
- If he is covered, don’t force the throw. Just hit your B/circle receiver on the drag route
Overview: It is recommended to have a fast receiver in the Y/triangle position for this play.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Singleback Tight Slots
Play: HB Wheel
Setup:
- Motion your Y/triangle receiver out to the left and snap the ball right when he gets set
Reads:
- Against any defense except a cover 2, your Y/triangle receiver should get open on his break to the sideline
- If he is covered, look to your A/X tight end or your B/circle receiver over the middle
Overview: Make sure to mix this play in with the other plays in this formation. If you do it right, it is almost impossible for your opponent to know what play is coming.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Singleback Tight Slots
Play: Mesh
Setup:
- Hot route your tight end to a slant route
- Motion your Y/triangle receiver out to the left and snap the ball right when he gets set
Reads:
- Your first read is your Y/triangle receiver on the drag route
- If he is covered, look to your tight end on the slant route.
Overview: The reason we call this play is so our opponent can’t key in on the sidelines whenever we come out in this formation. Don’t expect a huge gain from this play but it will keep the defense honest.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Singleback Tight Slots
Play: HB Dive
Setup:
- Motion your slot receiver on the left out toward the sideline and snap the ball
Overview: Make sure to call this play every now and then so your opponent can’t pass commit or go into a max coverage defense.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Singleback Tight Slots
Play: PA Panthers Post
Setup:
- Hot route your Y/triangle receiver to a slant route
- Motion your tight end out to the right sideline and snap the ball right when he gets set
Reads:
- Against most coverages, your X/square receiver should get open
- If he is covered, look to your Y/triangle receiver.
Overview: This is another good play to mix in from this formation. If you want to get the ball off quicker, you may want to cancel the play action after you snap the ball.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Gun Y Trips Open
Play: WR Fork
Setup:
- Block your running back
- Put your X/square receiver on a drag route
Reads:
- Your first look is the tight end on the quick out route
- If he is covered, look to your slot receiver on the corner route
- If he is also covered, your X/square receiver on the drag route should be open.
Overview: This is a very hard play to stop and it absolutely destroys most zone defenses.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Gun Y Trips Open
Play: Inside Zone
Setup: None Required
Overview: Just follow your blockers. This is such an easy running play that can get you a lot of yards.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Gun Y Trips Open
Play: PA Inverted Veer
Setup:
- Hot route your A/X tight end to a drag route
- (Optional) Hot route your running back to block
Reads:
- You are reading between your tight end on the drag route and the RB/R1 receiver on the crossing route a little deeper. Most of the time you will want to hit the RB/R1 receiver if he is open.
Overview: This play works really well when mixed in with the Inside Zone play and the WR Fork play. Inside Zone makes the defense worried about the run and the WR Fork play makes the defense worried about the sidelines.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Gun Trey Y Flex
Play: Verticals
Setup:
- Hot route your running back to block
Reads:
- Your main read is the Y/triangle receiver on the streak route against cover 3
- You can also try to hit your B/circle receiver if he is fast enough
- If your opponent isn’t in a cover 3 defense, throw to your tight end on the drag route
Overview: This play absolutely destroys cover 3 defenses especially if your opponent isn’t user controlling the deep free safety.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Gun Trey Y Flex
Play: Levels Sail
Setup: None Required
Reads:
- Your first look is always your running back coming out of the back field
- If he is covered, look to your tight end on the corner route
- If he is also covered, look to either of the 2 shallow in routes
Overview: You will want to snap the ball as fast as you can on this play. Since there are no long setups required for this play, you don’t want to give your opponent any time to make adjustments to his defense.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers
Formation: Gun Trey Y Flex
Play: Inside Zone
Setup: None Required
Overview: As long as the defense isn’t sending a heavy blitz, this play should work extremely well.
Playbook: Carolina Panthers

Reads:
- Your first look is your tight end on the out route
- If he is covered, look to your B/circle receiver on the crossing route
Overview: Mix this play in with the Inside Zone running play for best results.
Does this mini e-book work after this patch.
In my opinion the patch stopped a lot of the so called cheese (cheating). But the game seems as if the AI has gone crazy! You don’t need any cheats just blitz any guy from anywhere the O-line won’t pick it up.
Yes this mini ebook was designed to work after the latest patch.
You guys did it again, can’t wait to start labbing these plays!!!
The PA Veer looks different on the game. Am I looking at the correct play?
My letters dont come up know more for AGG catch or YAC when I throw the ball or the letters on defence. Do you know what I have to do to turn the back on again? And thanks for cooking out another mini ebook
You have an updated defense coming out? Patch stopped alot of the previous plays from 3-4 and 4-3
Yes, we are working on trying to get something on defense out post patch.
Hey Man, thanks for your schemes and tips. They have really helped me get more enjoyment out of Madden 16. I was wondering in your opinion, is Madden better on Xbox or PS4? I am thinking of selling my Xbox because of it being the less powerful system. But if there is virtually no difference in gameplay and graphics for a game like Madden, then I am over it. Also, where is the Madden community the strongest? Xbox Live or PSN? Thanks so much. Not trying to start a console war, I promise!
The gameplay on the PS4 and the XBOX One is exactly the same for Madden. In regards to which community is stronger, they both claim to be the strongest. In reality, the fact of the matter is that the truly elite Madden players play on both systems so it doesn’t really matter.
What is another name for the Formation Y-Trips Open? Don’t see that formation in custom playbook
Nice lil mini book…I loved the breakdowns for single back tight slots… That formation is where its at…its poppin
What Is another name for Y-Trips Open?
Do you have an Defense E-Book for the Panthers?
You can use the New England defense ebook with the Panthers team but we do not have an ebook based out of the Panthers playbook.
