Cover 2 defenses are becoming more popular with how many different ways there are to beat cover 3 defenses in Madden 26.

In today’s tip we are going over a very subtle adjustment that gets your receivers a clean outside release. It’s a subtle adjustment but it makes all the difference in the world.

This is not playbook or formation specific. You can do this from any playbook when you are expecting a cover 2 defense.

I like to do it to the short side of the field with a slot receiver also on a streak route.

Let’s take a look at how the release works on the fade route that comes default with the play versus the hot routed fade.

This is the default play art which will result in the outside WR getting jammed at the line of scrimmage.

You can see how the receive is re-routed to the inside which throws off our timing and spacing.

Now let’s compare it to the hot route fade.

It’s a very subtle change but it makes a huge difference.

This time we are able to get off the line of scrimmage completely clean and to the outside which allows us to make the throw along the sideline.
