Run Defense

Playbook: Kansas City Chiefs

Formation: Dollar 3-2-6

Play: Cover 1 Robber Press

Setup:

  1. Put the blitzing MLB and the strong safety into curl flat zones (optional)
  2. User the free safety (or safety opposite the running back) and stand on the outside hip of the defensive end
  3. Shoot the gap between the offensive tackle and offensive guard and tackle the running back

Overview: This run defense will allow you to shoot almost every single Shotgun run. Make sure to user the safety on the opposite side of the running back for the best results.

Playbook: Kansas City Chiefs

Formation: Nickel Normal

Play: Cover 1 Hole (works out of any play)

Setup:

  1. Pinch your defense (R1/RB + down on the left stick)
  2. Shift your defensive line towards the nickel cornerback (left on the D-pad + left/right on the left stick)
  3. Slant outside on your defensive line (left on the D-pad + up on the right stick)
  4. User the MLB that is stacked directly behind the defensive tackle
  5. Shoot the gap between the center and guard and tackle the running back

Overview: This run defense is great against all single back HB dives. We recommend using this defense for single back formations that use 1 TE and 3 WR, as it can struggle to stop outside runs against 2 or 3 TE single back formations.

Playbook: Kansas City Chiefs

Formation: Nickel 3-3-5

Play: Cover 1 Robber Press

Setup:

  1. Press your coverage (Y/Triangle + down on the left stick)
  2. Shift your defensive line opposite of the tight end (left on the D-pad + left/right on the left stick)
  3. Shift your linebackers towards the tight end (right on the D-pad + left/right on the left stick)
  4. User the safety opposite of the tight end
  5. Shoot the gap between the offensive tackle and guard and tackle the running back

Overview: This run defense is primarily used for I-formations that have 2 WR. You can shoot HB Iso and other inside runs every time in this defense, but make sure to watch out for formations that have an outside run to both sides. This defense is very overloaded to one side, so it is susceptible to weak side outside runs.

Playbook: Kansas City Chiefs

Formation: 4-3 Normal

Play: Safety Blitz 3 (then audible to Cover 4 Palms or Cover 4 Quarters)

Setup:

  1. Flip (R2/RT) and call Safety Blitz 3 then audible to Cover 4 Palms or Cover 4 Quarters
  2. Slant outside on your defensive line (left on the D-pad + up on the right stick)
  3. Stand on the outside hip of the left of screen defensive tackle
  4. Loop around and shoot the gap between the center and the guard

Overview: This run defense is primarily used for and fantastic against I-formations that have 2 TE. It will work best against inside runs, but the outside run defense is good as well. Remember to swing out with your user against outside runs and force the running back towards the inside.

Good job fellas. Do you guys base align or just rock out when it flips?

Also I haven’t seen you guys say to turn off auto-defensive flip in any of the plays. Is this just assumed to be turned off or can we leave it on
