Madden 19 will feature a whole new set of rookies when it comes out in late August 2018. There are 3, however, that stand head and shoulders above the rest of the class after the NFL Combine.
We break them down for you below.
Lamar Jackson is set to become the most dynamic Madden quarterback since Michael Vick. He should come in with top end speed, with high ratings in attributes like throw on the run, juke, and spin.
His accuracy will be the main weak spot but that has never held Madden gamers back from using exciting quarterbacks before.
With Lamar Jackson on the field, you will force your opponent to think about stopping him first which should open up all kinds of other possibilities on offense.
Saquon Barkley put on an absolute clinic at the NFL combine which will translate into amazing physical ratings in Madden 19. His speed and strength should be near the top end of running backs in Madden.
The 2 best Madden running backs coming out of the draft the last 2 years were Ezekiel Elliot and Leonard Fournette.
Zeke Elliot ran a 4.47 second 40 yard dash while Leonard Fournette ran a 4.51 second 40 yard dash.
Barkley ran faster then both of them with his 4.40 second 40 yard dash. He also put up 29 bench reps. For context, that is one of the top HB bench press numbers in the last 5 years.
Last year, Samaje Perine put up 30 reps and came into Madden 18 with a strength rating of 87. So look for Barkley to come in with a strength rating of at least 85.
Running back Tarik Cohen ran a 4.42 second 40 yard dash last year and was rewarded with a 92 speed rating in Madden 18 so look for Saquon Barkley to come in with a minimum of 92 speed.
A running back with 92 speed and 85 strength would dominate any Madden game but Saquon Barkley also has all kinds of college accolades as well as great game film so he should have high marks in many other ratings categories.
He will be a rookie that you will really want to have on your Madden 19 team.
User linebacker is one of the most important positions in Madden which will immediately make Shaquem Griffin a top 5 Madden linebacker.
The only thing that matters for most competitive Madden players in their user controlled defender is speed with height coming in a distant 2nd. Shaquem Griffin ran the fastest 40 time from a linebacker that we have seen in decades with a 4.38 time.
That fact by itself will put him above 90 speed in Madden 19. Even if his other attributes aren’t elite, he will be an extremely popular linebacker.

Yall forgot to put Troy Apke on this list he’s a Safety from Penn State. Dude ran a 4.34 and was Damn near in the top 5 in all the drills… They say he’s very raw but with his Madden Attributes he will dominate
The thing i wonder with Griffin is, will his game model only have the one hand or will it be defaulted to two?
They use the actual player for the models….so probably one hand.
dude, you can’t make it in the NFL with only one hand. He wont last long.
Have u played in the nfl with one hand? Ok then…
I was thinking that for Madden 19, they should include the following. They should have a promoter so you can sign contracts and do things in the nfl that make sports successful.
