In today’s tip, we are going over a really effective way to beat Cover 3, Cover 4, Cover 1, and Cover 0 defenses in Madden 25.
Check it out below!
Playbook: 49ers, Dolphins, and many others
Formation: Gun Split Close
Play: Double Swirl
Setup:
- Make sure you are on the left hash mark
- Hot route the A/X receiver to a post route and custom stem him up once
- Hot route the B/circle receiver to a streak route
- (Optional) Do whatever you want with your running backs
Reads:
- Your primary read on this play is the A/X receiver deep against Cover 3, Cover 4, and some man to man defenses as well.
Overview: This is a great shot play that works against any single high defense. It can help to have a fast receiver in the A/X spot.
Let’s take a closer look at how this works!
This is how the final play art should look. Notice how we are on the left hash mark and how the A/X receiver’s post route is custom stemmed slightly deeper.
You can see that the “Swirl” route that the receiver on the left run holds down any Cover 3 or Cover 4 deep zone which allows the A/X receiver to run past the cornerback deep.
The safety in the middle third has to decide whether to cover the streak route or the post route.
We are easily able to make the catch with no defender anywhere close to our receiver.
The end result is an easy 1 play touchdown.
