Madden 19 Tips: Destroy Zone Coverage With Gun Tight Slots - Bench Swap

Playbook: New England Patriots (Find others using the Madden School Playbook Tool)

Formation: Gun Tight Slots

Play: Bench Swap

Setup:

  1. Put your A/X tight end on a streak route
  2. Motion your X/square receiver to the right

Reads:

  1. Your first look against any zone defense is always your running back in the flat
  2. If he is covered, your B/circle receiver on the corner route should be open
  3. You can also wait for your X/square receiver to come open deep downfield if you have the time

Overview: This play beats every common zone defense in Madden 19. You have 2 or more reads that should get open so even if your opponent manually takes away one of them, you should still have a guy open. Don’t call this play if you are expecting man to man defense. It is designed to work only against zone.

Let’s take a deeper dive into this Madden 19 money play.

This is how the play art should look right before you snap the ball.

Right away you can see the our running back in the flat will be open. If he is open, we will want to throw to him and take the easy 5-7 yard gain.

We also see our B/circle receiver on the corner route getting open towards the sideline.

The final read against cover 3 if you have the blocking is to wait for the X/square receiver to get open deep. The cornerback on that side of the field will glitch out and stop dropping back to cover him. Lead pass up when you throw it.

We make the catch with no one even close to our wide receiver and the play results in an easy touchdown.
