Madden 19: Gun Spread – Deep Attack

In today’s Madden School tip, we are adding another play to your Madden 19 scheme. You have 3 (sometimes 4) solid reads coming over the middle of the field.

Check it out below.

Madden 19 Tips: Gun Spread - Deep Attack

Playbook: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Formation: Gun Spread

Play: Deep Attack

Setup:

  1. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a drag route
  2. Put the B/O receiver on an in route
  3. Motion the Y/Triangle receiver to the right side of the screen
  4. Put the RB/R1 running back on a streak (Optional)

Reads:

  1. The first read on this play is the Y/Triangle receiver on the drag route
  2. Then look for the RB/R1 running back quick out of the backfield
  3. Next look for the B/O receiver on the in route
  4. Finally, Find the A/X tight end over the middle of the field

Overview: The route combinations on this play flood basically any type of zone coverage as shown in the video. The Y/Triangle receiver on the drag route brings down the zones leaving the A/X tight end open over the middle of the field. The B/O receiver come across late on the in route leaving him open over the middle of the field.

Let’s take a closer look at how this play works.

This is how the play art should look right before you snap the ball. You can also put your running back on a streak route for a quick pass out of the backfield.

You can see against this cover 3 defense, we have multiple receivers getting open over the middle of the field.

We decide to throw it to our tight end for about a 20 yard gain.

Hello.

This seems like a really nice play.

However, the Gun Spread formation contains the Hail Mary play (which is a locked in formation) and whenever I try to add a play to Gun Spread in custom playbooks, save it, and then return to practice or game mode, the formation screen for Gun Spread is one of my choices but is blank with no plays listed.

How do we get this to work in custom playbooks?

I had that same issue initially with a couple other formations. I had to completely remake my custom playbook and that resolved the issue. It was time consuming, but I would hope that’d work for you, too.
