New England Defense 4-3 Over

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Cover 3 Cloud

Setup:

  1. Base Align
  2. Crash the defensive line out
  3. Blitz the MLB and move him between the C and RG
  4. Control the OLB on the left side of the screen and hold L2/LT. Once the ball is snapped, wait for a split second and then patrol the field with that linebacker.

Overview: This play works really well with an elite MLB and against someone who doesn’t block extra guys.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Mike Will Blitz

Setup:

  1. Crash the defensive line out
  2. Re-Blitz the MLB and move him between the C and RG
  3. (Optional) Press coverage
  4. Control the OLB on the left side of the screen and hold L2/LT. Once the ball is snapped, wait for a split second and then patrol the field with that linebacker.

Overview: This is the man to man version of the last play we went over.  It brings really nice A Gap pressure while only rushing 5 guys.  If your opponent blocks extra guys, call a dual edge pressure play or a max coverage defense

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Cover 2 Man

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Base Align
  2. Move the MLB between the C and RG
  3. Put your defensive ends into whatever zones you want
  4. Put one of your defensive tackles into a QB Spy

Overview: This is a max coverage defense.  You should call it once you have your opponent worried about the A-gap nano blitzes from the same formation.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Strong Slant 3

Setup:

  1. Base Align
  2. Pinch and crash your D-line down
  3. Shift your linebackers to the left
  4. Put your DE on the right side of the screen into a zone

Overview: This is a great sim style blitz.  It brings pressure from the B-Gap and it maintains decent coverage as well.

  1. How do you crash the D-line out? I know how to pinch and crash down but not out.

    1. To crash the D-line out, do the same thing you would do when you crash them down, except instead of hitting the right stick down, hit the right stick up.

  2. If it does not say a sim style blitz does that mean it is a nano blitz

    1. If it does not say it is a sim style blitz, then it can be considered in some leagues to be a nano blitz.
