Playbook: Buffalo Bills
Formation: Gun Y Trips HB WK
Play: PA Post Shot
Setup:
First Setup
- Put the B/O drag route
Second Setup
- Put the B/O receiver on an in route
- Put the A/X tight end on a drag route
Reads:
- First look for the A/X tight end
- Then look for the B/O receiver
- After that you have the RB/R1 receiver deep to the left side of the field
- Finally, you have the bomb to the X/Square receiver over top the safeties
Overview: This is a highly effective pass play that can confuse your opponent in more ways than one. The alternate setups make it difficult for the opponent to key in on the underneath routes.
Playbook: Buffalo Bills
Formation: Gun Y Trips HB WK
Play: HB Draw
Setup:
- Motion the RB/R1 receiver to the left of screen (optional)
Reads:
- Follow your blockers
Overview: This is one of the best runs to use against the infamous Nickel 335 Tampa 2 defense that is widely used. The point of the defense is to defend against the big plays, so you have to take the smalls plays over and over that eventually turn into a big one.
Playbook: Buffalo Bills
Formation: Gun Y Trips HB WK
Play: HB Base
Setup:
- None required
Reads:
- Follow your blockers
Overview: This is another very effective run to use against the Nickel 335 Tampa 2 defense. The reason is that this play has a pulling guard unlike the inside zone run that is not effective against this defense.
Playbook: Buffalo Bills
Formation: Gun Y Trips HB WK
Play: Y Corner
Setup:
- Streak the A/X tight end
- Put the RB/R1 receiver on a drag route
- Put the B/O receiver on a drag route
- Motion the RB/R1 receiver to the right side of the screen
Reads:
- The first read on this play is the A/X tight end up the seam of the field
- Next look for the X/Square receiver deep over the middle
- Then look for the RB/R1 receiver on the drag route
- After that check the B/O receiver on his drag route
- The last check down on this play is the running back in the flats
Overview: This play is mainly attacking the middle of the field which is great against the Nickel 335 Tampa 2 style defense. This defense will sometimes have the Middle linebacker in a deep blue zone, so the streak will create space for the X/Square receiver. Then you will also have the underneath routes open as well.
