Gun Trips TE

Playbook: Oakland Raiders

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: Double In Sail (Part 1)

Setup:

  1. Put the B/O receiver on a streak
  2. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a drag route
  3. Motion the Y/Triangle receiver in a couple steps and hike it

Reads:

  1. The first read on this play is the B/O receiver quick up the seam of the field
  2. If that is not there look for A/X tight end quick on the low pass
  3. Then look for the RB/R1 running back out of the back field
  4. Next, find the Y/Triangle receiver on the drag
  5. Finally, if all else fails check down to the X/Square receiver on the in route

Overview: This play is going to be great against zone coverage. As shown in the video there are so many routes that your opponent has to worry about. Especially, with all of the quick passes involved in this play it will make it hard to blitz.

Play: Double In Sail (Part 2)

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a smoke screen
  2. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a streak
  3. Motion the Y/Triangle receiver to the right side of the field

Reads:

  1. The first read on this play is the X/Square receiver on the smoke screen
  2. Next, look for the running back quick out of the backfield
  3. If that is not there look for the B/O receiver on the corner route
  4. Finally, find the A/X tight end on the corner route on the right side

Overview: This play makes it very easy to make reads against a defense. We are attacking high and low on both sides of the field. On the left you just have to read the cornerback and see if he drops back then the smoke screen is open, if the cornerback plays the flats then the corner route will be open.

Playbook: Oakland Raiders

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: Inside Zone

Setup:

  1. Motion the Y/Triangle receiver to the right a few steps and hike it

Reads:

  1. Follow the blocks

Overview: This is an effective run to keep your opponent off balance. You can’t get one dimensional and always pass, if you do so your opponent will start dropping a lot of people in coverage and pass committing. This is a solid run to mix it up.

Play: PA Shot Post (Part 1)

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  2. Put the X/Square receiver on an in route
  3. Motion the Y/Triangle receiver in a step and hike it

Reads:

  1. The first read on this play is the B/O receiver quick on the wheel route
  2. If that is not there the next main read is the Y/Triangle receiver on the over route
  3. Finally, look for the X/Square receiver on the in route

Overview: As shown in the video this play can be literally every defense in Madden. Cover 3, Cover 4, and Man coverage will be vulnerable to the wheel route. While Cover 2 coverages will be beaten by the Y/Triangle receiver.

Play: PA Shot Post (Part 2)

Setup:

  1. Put the B/O receiver on a streak
  2. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  3. Put the X/Square receiver on a comeback

Reads:

  1. The main read is the B/O receiver on the streak
  2. If that is not there look for the Y/Triangle receiver on the over route

Overview: This is a Cover 3 bomb play. The comeback on the left side of the field is going to hold the cornerback down leaving the streak wide open. The tight end on the streak on the right side of the field will hold the safety in the middle of the field long enough to throw it deep to the streak.

Play: PA Counter Go

  2. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a drag

Reads:

  1. The main read on this play is the B/O receiver on the over route
  2. Next, look for the Y/Triangle receiver on the drag route
  3. Then find the X/Square receiver on the in route

Overview: This is another effective zone beater that can attack almost all areas of the field. In the video we breakdown some minor adjustments we can make to the play as well to make it even better.

Play: PA Slot Corner

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
  2. Put the A/X tight end on a drag
  3. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a drag
  4. Motion the B/O receiver to the right side of the field

Reads:

  1. The main read is the B/O receiver’s post
  2. If that is not there look for the Y/Triangle receiver on the drag route
  3. Then find the A/X tight end on his drag route

Overview: This is an overall zone beater; the video shows a couple different ways of how we attack all areas of the field no matter what the situation. Even if it is 3rd or 4th and long we have a way to attack it using this play.

Playbook: Oakland Raiders

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: HB Draw

Setup:

  1. Motion the Y/Triangle receiver to the right side and hike it

Reads:

  1. Follow the blocks

Overview: This is another solid run in this formation to mix. When you motion the Y/Triangle receiver across to the right side it really creates the illusion that you are passing the ball.

Playbook: Oakland Raiders

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: Verticals (Redzone/Goal line Play)

Setup:

  1. Put the running back on a wheel route

Reads:

  1. The first read on the play is the running back to the flats
  2. If that is not there look for the Y/Triangle receiver on the inside pass lead
  3. Then look for the B/O receiver over the middle
  4. Finally, find the A/X tight end in the corner of the endzone

Overview: This play is deadly in the Goal line area of the field. What we are doing is essentially quick hiking our opponent, so they do not have time to adjust to our routes.

Playbook: Oakland Raiders

Play: X Spot

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
  2. Put the B/O receiver on an in route and smart route him
  3. Put the A/X tight end on a drag
  4. Put the running back on a wheel route
  5. Motion the Y/Triangle receiver in till he is basically right behind the B/O receiver

Reads:

  1. The first read on this play is the A/X tight end on the drag route
  2. If that is not there look for the Y/Triangle receiver deep on the corner route
  3. Then look for the B/O receiver on the in route
  4. Finally, find the running back on his wheel route

Overview: This is a very versatile play that attacks the defense in many ways. Even if the opponent can cover our main target there will be so many other areas of the field open.
