Setup:

  1. Base Align (Optional)

  4. User one of the Linebackers stand in the gap and hold LT

Overview: When running man coverage, you must be careful if you decide to base align because you do not want to get beat on a streak. However, this play is great to mix in because some people really struggle to play offense against a man defense.

Play: WS Blitz 3

Setup:

  1. Base Align
  2. Pinch the defensive line
  3. Slant the defensive line to the outside
  4. Play the Sticks
  5. User one of the Linebackers stand in the gap and hold LT

Overview: Playing the Sticks can be important when using Cover 3 style defenses because if you do not it can be very easily bombed for a touchdown. Playing the Sticks will keep the outside thirds playing the outside instead of following a receiver on a crossing pattern. This blitz will appear similar to the other blitzes to your opponent but you will have a completely different style of coverage behind it.

Overview: In the video we breakdown how to cover popular route concepts using this coverage defense. The look of the defense will look similar to our other blitzes in the formation, yet we are dropping many players into coverage. Playing the Sticks is an important feature to use when running this defense.
