After the most recent patch cover 3 and cover 2 are both really easy to beat so many people are calling mostly man to man or cover 4 drop defenses in Madden 21.
In today’s Madden School Film Room, we are going over 3 plays that destroy cover 4 drop.
Check them out below!
Playbook: Baltimore Ravens
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: PA X Post Cross
Setup:
- Make sure you are on the left hash mark
- Put the B/circle receiver on a curl route
- Double team the outside most rusher on the right
Reads:
- Your primary read on this play is the X/square receiver deep against cover 4 defenses.
Overview: This play does a great job of beating cover 4 defenses over the top.
Playbook: Green Bay Packers
Formation: Gun Trey Y-Flex
Play: Fade Smash
Setup:
- Make sure you are on the right hash mark
- Put your tight end on a slant route
- Put your Y/triangle receiver on a streak
- Put your X/square receiver on a slant route
- Smart route the B/circle receiver
- (Optional) Block your running back
Reads:
- The B/circle receiver should get open deep. Lead pass to the right sideline
Overview: This is a shot play if you think your opponent is going to be in a cover 4 defense.
Playbook: Green Bay Packers
Formation: Gun Tight Offset TE
Play: PA Seams
Setup:
- Use the HB1 package before you call this play
- Make sure you are on the left hash mark
- Hot route the Y/triangle receiver to a hitch route or a drag route
- Hot route the X/square receiver to a slant route
- (Optional) Hot route the B/circle receiver to a fade route
Reads:
- The primary read on this play is the A/X receiver deep. Lead pass to the left
Overview: By using the HB1 package, we get 4 wide receivers on the field instead of 3 wide receivers and 1 tight end. That allows a wide receiver to be in the tight end spot which really helps this play work.
