When picking your team in franchise mode, it is helpful to know which rookies the team at EA blessed with development traits like Star, Superstar, or Superstar X-Factor.
We’ve put together a list with every rookies and what their hidden development trait is. If they aren’t on this list, assume they have normal development.
Remember, Superstar and SSX players develop twice as fast as normal players while Star players develop about 50% faster than normal players.
In any reasonable franchise, if your player has normal development and stays there, he will never get to 90+ overall.
These dev traits can be increased by having excellent seasons, or by triggering in-season development scenarios but these can often be difficult and are by no means guaranteed. Young players though usually will have a couple opportunities to increase their development traits so they aren’t necessarily stuck forever where they are.
Remember that players with Superstar and X-Factor development traits have access to Superstar and X-Factor abilities. For rookies, these are hidden and not displayed until 500 snaps are played.

Okkkkk
I believe Zach Wilson is a star
Thanks for catching that! The post has been updated to include that.
Tommy Tremble and Trey Sermon have star development.
Thanks for adding those in!
So for the first time ever the Heisman winner doesn’t get a trait. I’m sure him going to the Eagles has nothing to do with it.
He has star development.
he has superstar
Dyami Brown and Quinn Meinerz have star development.
doesnt mac jones have star?
So lets me get this straight. Devonta smith won the heisman but they give the first X-Factor ever for a rookie to Kyle Pitts? FUCKING WHY. HE WASNT EVEN 1ST OVERALL. I don’t get it…
he is an GOD TE
just because devonta smith was the Heisman winner doesn’t mean anything I can name many rookie WR’s that are better than him including ja’marr chase and jaylen waddle devonta smith is a great wide receiver but there are many others that top him that is the reason he is not super star-x factor
Rashod is spelled wrong
what is the silver dev trait called?
Star
I have a player that leads the league in sacks tfl and solo tackles and he hasn’t had a dev scenario yet he’s been sitting at star for almost 2 season so you think he would have the potential to get the dev upgrade when the season ends since he’s first in all those categories ?
Some players just dont develop well. Especially older players, if he is older he prob wont get dev trait upgrade, it mostly happens to younger star players
