Weak Close Flex

Playbook: Carolina Panthers

Formation: Weak Close Flex

Play: PA Boot Shot

Setup:

  1. Block the backfield
  2. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  3. Put the X/Square receiver on a drag

Reads:

  1. The main read on this play is the B/O receiver on the post across the field
  2. If that is not there check down to the X/Square receiver on the drag

Overview: This play is really effective because we are in a run heavy formation however, this pass can beat any type of zone coverage our opponent throws at us. Since running is effective is this formation it makes it much harder for the opponent to cover any type of routes in the passing game.

Playbook: Carolina Panthers

Formation: Weak Close Flex

Play: PA Boot Shot (Cover 4)

Setup:

  1. Block the backfield
  2. Put the A/X tight end on a curl
  3. Put the X/Square receiver on a drag
  4. Motion the B/O receiver out to the left

Reads:

  1. The main read on this play is the B/O receiver on the post deep over top the zone
  2. Then look for the A/X tight end on the curl route
  3. Finally, check down to the X/Square receiver on the drag

Overview: This video we breakdown how to beat Cover 4 in one play in this formation. As you see the post is going to get over top all the zones, all you need is a QB with decent arm strength and the B/O receiver to have some speed.

Playbook: Carolina Panthers

Formation: Weak Close Flex

Play: HB Dive

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Follow the blockers

Overview: The Dive is always one of the most effective runs in madden, it allows you to read the holes and either go up the middle or bounce it to the outside. Also, in the video we touch on how you have audible to the I Form close Stretch and Dive as well to make it a complete mini rushing scheme.

Playbook: Carolina Panthers

Formation: Weak Close Flex

Play: Mesh

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
  2. Block the fullback
  3. Put the running back on an option route (optional)
  4. Motion the B/O receiver to the right

Reads:

  1. The main target is the B/O receiver on the post across the field
  2. Then look for the A/X tight end on the drag route
  3. Finally, check down to the running back on the option route

Overview: On this play we use a motion to the right side of the field to confuse our opponent, since in previous plays we use this motion and all our routes attack the right side of the field. On this play we have all our routes going to the left side attacking both high and low areas of the field.
