For the first week, we will take a look at the AFC North. These are only our predictions for a players overall rating at this point in time. The Ravens roster seems to be fairly well rounded. They had a very good draft picking up some solid guys like Tim Williams in the later rounds. Madden usually goes fairly low on the initial rookie rankings but I expect most of these will fluctuate throughout the year as Madden does weekly updates.
The strongest area for the Ravens has to be a the safety position. Adding a young stud like Tony Jefferson really will boost their secondary. Him and Eric Weddle could be one of the better tandems in the league. This team has a lot of question marks at the wide receiver position where Mike Wallace continues to age and Perriman has not shown us much yet.
I expect their overall team ranking to be around an 83 at the start. I think that would be a fair assessment of where this roster is at currently.

The Bengals are a fairly well rounded roster. These are my predictions based off the current roster that they hold. Looking at their first round pick, John Ross, he blew up the combine running a 4.22 40-yard dash time which is the fastest of all time. Speed is an important factor in Madden ratings and should figure to help him in the initial rating phase.
The strong point of this team is their WR core because of the youth. A.J. Green is in his prime, John Ross is a highly touted rookie and Tyler Boyd was their second round pick last year. It’s now just a matter if Andy Dalton can get them the ball. I would put their overall team rating at the 83 mark.

It’s actually weird to say this but the Browns could be an up and coming team on Madden 18. They even fit the mold for a fun and exciting franchise rebuild. They really beefed up their offensive line this offseason and it will show in the overall ratings for the team.
Although they do not yet have a for sure franchise quarterback, they added some young talent this offseason. They were also able to land three first-round draft picks in 2017 and all three of those should factor to contribute immediately. My guess for the Browns team overall rating would most likely be 75. It’s not all there yet and they have a lot to prove but they’re on the right track.

The Steelers are the most well-rounded team in the AFC North. They have elite talent on the offensive side in the ball in Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. Martavis Bryant has the skill level to increase his overall rating as the season progresses but I think ultimately he will start off at an average rating.
I believe their team rating overall will be around 85. With an above average offense and a well rounded defense, I think this team has the most talent on their roster in the AFC North and that will show team rating.
When going through and predicting these Madden ratings, I used Rotoworld’s depth charts as a base. When making predictions, I would look at each players situations differently. There are a lot of different factors that went into the ratings that were forecasted.
This is just the beginning of a weekly feature with predicting Madden player ratings. We are still weeks away from when teams make their final roster cuts down to the 53-man roster.
