Madden NFL 15 Houston Texans Team Breakdown

The Houston Texans are a much better Madden 15 team than their 2-14 NFL record last year would indicate.  They are an average Madden team with a few playmakers but a lot of glaring weaknesses.  We have the full analysis below.

Team: Houston Texans

Offensive Strategy: Run the ball and find a way to get Andre Johnson involved.  Arian Foster isn’t rated as high as he used to be, but he is still an effective running back.  If you can get him going and then find a way to involve Andre Johnson, that is your best chance of moving the football.

Defensive Strategy: Pressure the quarterback.  You won’t be able to hang back and hope for coverage sacks with this Texans team. They have lots of very effective pass rushers so make sure to use them.

Strengths: Clowney and Watt.  You will absolutely be able to get after opposing quarterbacks in Madden 15 with this duo.  They are one of the top 5 pass rushing duos in Madden 15.  They will also do pretty well against the run.  The Texans linebackers are also above average making the front 7 pretty intimidating.

Weaknesses: No quarterback.  It is tough to compete in online ranked games or in a franchise without a quarterback to lead you.  None of the options that the Texans have at QB will allow them to consistently get the ball to Andre Johnson who is a very dangerous weapon.  The safety position leaves a lot to be desired as well.

Impact Players: HB Arian Foster, WR Andre Johnson, WR DeAndre Hopkins, DE J.J. Watt, DE/OLB JaDeveon Clowney, OLB Whitney Mercilus, MLB Brian Cushing, CB Johnathan Joseph,  CB Kareem Jackson

Key Newcomers: DE/OLB JaDeveon Clowney, TE  C.J. Fiedorowicz, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

Additional Remarks: This Texans team is an improvement from last year mostly due to drafting JaDeveon Clowney, but they still have a long way to go before they become a great Madden team.
