Madden 21 Split Slot Mini Scheme

Playbook: Chicago Bears

Formation: Split Slot

Play: Texas

Setup:

  1. Hot route your B/circle receiver to a drag route.
  2. Hot route your Y/triangle running back to a swing to the left.

Reads:

  1. Your first read on this play is your X/square receiver on the post route.
  2. Against man to man coverage look for your RB/R1 full back (subbed out for a running back) on the texas route.
  3. Against Cover 2, look for your A/X tight end up the seam.

Overview: Texas is your bread and butter passing play because it has a lot of good routes that can each beat certain coverages.

Playbook: Chicago Bears

Play: HB Inside

Playbook: Chicago Bears

Formation: Split Slot

Play: HB Slip Screen

Setup:

  1. (Optional) Motion your B/circle to the right (as shown in the video).

Reads:

  1. Throw it to your Y/triangle running back when he gets outside.

Overview: This play is awesome to run when your opponent is thinking you are going to run HB Inside. The motion will replicate what you do on HB Inside so their user will crash the middle to stop the run. This will leave the screen wide open on the outside.

Playbook: Chicago Bears

Formation: Split Slot

Play: China Special

Setup:

  1. Hot route you X/square receiver to a streak route.

Reads:

  1. Your First read on this play is your B/circle receiver on the corner route.
  2. If your opponent is playing over the top coverage, throw it to your Y/triangle receiver in the flat.
  3. Against man to man coverage/cover 2, look for your A/x tight end on the stick n nod.
  4. Against Cover 2 hard flat look for your X/square receiver on the streak

Overview: This is a coverage busting play that will be used when you know what coverage your opponent likes to use. The route combination on the left side of the field is great to beat cover 3 coverage. And your tight end bails you out if they decide to come out in cover 2.
