Gun Trips TE

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: Double In Sail

Setup:

  1. Put the B/O receiver on a streak
  2. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a drag route

Reads:

  1. The first read will be the running back on the table route
  2. Then look for the Y/Triangle receiver on the drag route
  3. Next find the B/O receiver on the inside pass lead on the streak
  4. After that look for the A/X tight end on the corner route
  5. Then finally find the X/Square receiver on the in route

Overview: This play is going to be a levels concept that attacks the middle of the field and the right side of the field. Make sure to take what the defense gives you with this play, no need to force things deep.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: Inside Zone

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Follow the blockers

Overview: Mix this run into this formation every now and then to keep your opponent from fully committing to the pass. When your opponent is in real pass heavy defenses this play will easily be able to get 5-10 yards.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: PA Counter Go

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  2. Put the X/Square receiver on a drag
  3. Motion the Y/Triangle in a few steps

Reads:

  1. Against Cover 2 style defenses the A/X tight end will be open deep on the streak
  2. Then look for the B/O receiver on the deep crosser
  3. Next find the Y/Triangle receiver on the motioned route
  4. Finally, check down to the X/Square receiver on the drag route

Overview: This is a prolific pass play in this formation the crosser mixed with the motioned route is incredibly tough to cover. This play will destroy both man and zone coverage as shown in the video.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: PA Shot Wheel

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  2. Put the X/Square receiver on an in route and smart route him
  3. Put the B/O receiver on a drag route

Reads:

  1. The main target on the play is the Y/Triangle receiver on the crossing route
  2. Then look for the B/O receiver on the drag route
  3. Lastly, find the X/Square receiver on the in route

Overview: Mixing this play in with PA Counter Go is very effective. This is because the crossing route is run by different receivers making it hard for the defense to adjust to it.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: PA Slot Corner (Pt. 1)

Setup:

  1. Put the B/O receiver on a drag route
  2. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  3. Motion the B/O receiver to the right

Reads:

  1. The main target on this play is the Y/Triangle receiver on the post route
  2. If that is not there you then have both receivers on drag routes as check downs

Overview: This play is effective as the video shows all the little wrinkles you can add into it. The motioning of the receiver will create some confusion for the opponent and the post will be left open a lot.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: PA Slot Corner (Pt. 2)

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
  2. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  3. Motion the B/O receiver to the right side

Reads:

  1. This play we have two main targets the B/O receiver on the post and then the Y/Triangle receiver on his post

Overview: This play is to attack the defense deep when you need large chunks of yardage quickly. This is also good to use to try to get out of bounds to stop the clock in a late game situation or right before half.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Trips TE

Play: RPO Zone Alert Bubble

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Hit the receiver on the bubble screen
  2. Hand it to the running back

Overview: As shown in the video the bubble screens are very effective in this game. We go against multiple defenses and they all leave the screen pretty much wide open. If it is not there just give it to the running back and move on.

I can’t get my QB to snap the ball on the PA Counter Go until the receiver crosses to the other side
