Gun Bunch TE

Playbook: Las Vegas Raiders

Formation: Gun Bunch TE

Play: PA Boot Over (Vs Zone)

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  2. Put the X/Square receiver on an in route and smart route him
  3. Put the B/O receiver on a drag

Reads:

  1. The main target is the Y/Triangle receiver on the deep crossing route
  2. Then look underneath to the B/O receiver on the drag route
  3. Finally, find the X/Square receiver coming across the middle on the in route

Overview: In this setup we break down how to beat all types of zone coverage using this play. The streak by the tight end will serve as a clearout leaving the deep crosser wide open.

Play: PA Boot Over (Vs Man)

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a drag
  2. Put the B/O receiver on a slant
  3. Motion the B/O receiver to the right

Reads:

  1. The main target is the Y/Triangle receiver on the deep crossing route
  2. Then look for the X/Square receiver deep on the post
  3. Next, find the B/O receiver on the motioned slant
  4. Finally, if all else fails check down to the A/X tight end on the drag

Overview: This is a man beating setup, as shown in the video every route is going to be able to beat man. Two of the routes are deep that can easily go for a touchdown. Then we have a couple underneath routes one being the motioned slant that creates a lot of separation.

Playbook: Las Vegas Raiders

Formation: Gun Bunch TE

Play: Inside Zone

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Follow the blockers

Overview: This inside zone is very effective out of this formation, in a passing formation like this it is good to mix this play in. It will also force your opponent to bring their user down to have a chance to stop it.

Formation: Gun Bunch TE

Play: HB Off Tackle

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Follow the blockers

Overview: This play is essentially an outside zone. However, when the opponent starts trying to combat the inside zone by pinching their defensive line or entire defense this is the best play to use. A lot of people that run nickel normal and Big Nickel Over G pinch their defensive lines every play.

Formation: Gun Bunch TE

Play: Curl Flat Corner

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
  2. Put the A/X tight end on a curl or an in route and smart route the in route
  3. Block the running back

Reads:

  1. The man target is the Y/triangle receiver deep on the corner route
  2. If that is not there look for the out route underneath by the B/O receiver
  3. Lastly, find the A/X tight end over the middle of the field

Overview: This play works extremely well against Cover 2 style defenses, the corner route is just going to be deeper than the zones will play. However, the video also shows that this play can work well against Cover 3s too.

Playbook: Las Vegas Raiders

Formation: Gun Bunch TE

Play: Stick

Setup:

  1. Put the Y/Triangle receiver on a streak
  2. Put the B/O receiver on drag
  3. Put the A/X tight end on a drag
  4. Motion the X/Square receiver to the right
  5. Block the running back

Reads:

  1. Our main target here will be the X/Square receiver on the post
  2. If that is not there look for the B/O receiver on the drag route
  3. Then look for the A/X tight end on his drag route

Overview: Here we are breaking down a zone beater that makes use of a motion. The Y/Triangle receiver on the streak is going to clear out all of the deep zones allowing the X/Square receiver that we motioned to be wide open for a big gain.

Playbook: Las Vegas Raiders

Formation: Gun Bunch TE

Play: HB Slip Screen

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Hit the running back on the screen
  2. If it is not there throw the ball away

Overview: Interesting enough HB screens can work really well this year against pretty much anything. It is something that your opponent will not really expect, so if the opponent does not user the screen it should be there for solid yardage. This is not an every down play but great to mix in.

Playbook: Las Vegas Raiders

Formation: Gun Bunch TE

Play: Inside Switch

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  2. Put the B/O receiver on a drag
  3. Motion the B/O receiver to the right

Reads:

  1. The first read is the RB/R1 running back to the flat
  2. Then the primary target is the X/Square receiver deep on the post
  3. If that is not there then look for the Y/Triangle receiver on the hitch
  4. Lastly, check down to the B/O receiver on the drag

Overview: This is another great play to mix into the scheme, we make use of a lot of different motions in this formation to confuse the opponent. On the plays where we motion people we have players going to all different sides of the field so at that point we have our opponent just having to guess what we are going to do on offense.

On PA boot over would you ever motion out the Square receiver on the smart routed in? It seems it might give you a bit extra time on his read if the crosser is usered and possibly time it so that he is in a wider open middle of the field?

Great ebook, I’ve been using/labbing it for a while now. Thx!!

However, in Gun Trips TE ( I know it’s in the mini ebook), I can no longer get the snap off before the WR crosses the O-line. The QB turns to look at the WR, waves his hand, and the ball will not snap with the WR Still on his original side. I’ve noticed this in some other formations. Am I’m missing something? Thx.
