Gun Ace Slot Offset

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Ace Slot Offset

Play: Posts (Pt. 1)

Setup:

  1. Motion the B/O receiver in a few steps and hike it (optional)

Reads:

  1. The first read on the play is the running back on the Texas route
  2. Then look for the Y/Triangle tight end on the flat route
  3. Next look for the A/X tight end on the corner route
  4. After that find the B/O receiver on his corner route
  5. Finally, look over top to the X/Square receiver on the post

Overview: This play is one of the more versatile pass plays in the game as shown in the video we pretty much attack all areas of the field in this one play. The running back quick on the angle route will destroy man and get underneath the zones as well causing problems for the defense.

Play: Posts (Pt. 2)

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a streak
  2. Motion the X/Square receiver as shown in the video

Reads:

  1. The first read on the play is the running back on the Texas route
  2. Then look for the A/X tight end on the streak
  3. On the left side of the field you have the Y/Triangle tight end on the flat route still
  4. Then find the B/O receiver on either the drag or the corner route
  5. Finally, look for the X/Square receiver on the post

Overview: This video you are going to want to watch in depth, because we breakdown how many different things we can do with this one play. All of them tie together to absolutely confuse the opponent.

Play: 0 1 Trap

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Follow the blockers up the middle

Overview: Here we break down one of if not the best run in the game currently. The 0 1 Trap as shown in the video is deadly and incredibly hard to stop because it is unlike any other run. The opponent cannot shoot the gap like they can an Inside Zone.

Playbook: New England Patriots

Formation: Gun Ace Slot Offset

Play: Inside Zone

Setup:

  1. None required

Reads:

  1. Follow the blockers up the middle

Overview: Now when you mix the Inside Zone in with the 0 1 Trap it creates a running scheme that is hard to defend. This is because the opponent will have to use an entirely different defense to stop the 0 1 Trap that will most likely not be able to defend Inside Zone.

Play: Flood

Setup:

  1. Put the A/X tight end on a curl
  2. Motion the B/O receiver in a few steps and hike it

Reads:

  1. The main read on the play is the B/O receiver on the deep out route
  2. Then look for the A/X tight end on the curl route
  3. If nothing else is there check down to the Y/Triangle tight end on the flat route

Overview: This is a play that can be used in key down situations to pick up a much needed first down. The deep out route will be able to get open against both man and zone coverage. Then on the right side of the field we have a curl route that we can low pass as well.

Play: Levels Y Sail (Pt. 1)

Setup:

  1. Put the B/O receiver on a streak
  2. Put the X/Square receiver on a drag

Reads:

  1. The first read on the play is the running back on the table route
  2. Then look for the A/X tight end on the corner route
  3. Next, there is the Y/Triangle tight end on the short in route
  4. Finally, find the X/Square receiver on the drag

Overview: In this play we break down a levels concept that is mainly attacking the right side of the field. This play mixes in well with the formation and can easily get our running back in space to the flats.

Play: Levels Y Sail (Pt. 2)

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
  2. Motion the X/Square receiver to the right

Reads:

  1. The first read will be the running back on the table route
  2. Then look for the Y/Triangle tight end short over the middle
  3. Next progress to the A/X tight end on the corner route
  4. Finally, find the X/Square receiver on the deep in route

Overview: Here we make use of the motion that will confuse our opponent since they have seen us use a motion in other plays and the receiver is always on a different route. Again this play creates a levels concept that will attack the middle to the right side of the field.

Play: China Double In (Pt. 1)

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a smoke screen
  2. Put the B/O receiver on a streak
  3. Motion the B/O receiver to the right side

Reads:

  1. The first read is the X/Square receiver on the smoke screen
  2. Then look to the running back out of the back field
  3. If those are not there look for the Y/Triangle tight end on the corner route
  4. Next, find the A/X tight end on the corner route

Overview: On this play we are going to be attacking both sides of the field with routes low and high. Making use of the motion will draw the opponent attention as well normally leaving the left side of the field vulnerable.

Play: China Double In (Pt. 2)

Setup:

  1. Put the B/O receiver on a drag
  2. Put the X/Square receiver on a drag
  3. Motion the X/Square receiver to the right side

Reads:

  1. The first read is the running back on the table route out of the backfield
  2. Then look for either drag route by the B/O receiver and X/Square receiver
  3. After that we will then progress to both corner routes by the tight ends

Overview: In this setup we use a double drag route concept using a motioned receiver as well. In the other plays in this formation when we send a receiver in motion he is not on a drag route so it adds something else that your opponent has to worry about.

Play: China Double In (Pt. 3)

Setup:

  1. Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
  2. Put the B/O receiver on a streak
  3. Motion the B/O receiver to the right side of the field

Reads:

  1. There are two main targets on this play and they are both tight ends on the deep corner routes
  2. If neither of those are there check it down to the running back

Overview: This play is used in situations where you need to gain a lot of yards quickly or also get out of bounds. For example before half when you have no timeouts or even an end of the game scenario where you need to conserve time.
