The Best Offensive Line Archetypes To Increase In Madden 24 Franchise

Continuing on in our series of the best archetypes to upgrade in Madden’s franchise mode, today we are covering tight ends.

We spent thousands of skill points on all of the different archetypes for each position and documented the results of our experiment. This effort took weeks of data collection and man hours and we hope that you find the actionable takeaways from it.

Our Recommendation For Upgrading Offensive Linemen

This is one of the few positions where we do not have a strong recommendation. Each archetype for the most part does what it says it does so this one does come down to your personal preference.

We did find some useful information though that can help you with the decision making process.

Highest Expected Value For Total Attribute Increases

We did 50 tests for each OL archetype and marked down every individual rating increase they got then added all of it together for the total number of individual ratings increases.

What we found for these OL tests is that the expected value of ratings increases for Power was higher than any of the other archetypes.

  1. Power: 236 rating increases on 50 attempts. Expected Value = 4.72
  2. Agile: 212 rating increases on 50 attempts. Expected Value = 4.24
  3. Pass Protector: 132 rating increases on 50 attempts. Expected Value = 2.64

This shows us that if you are just looking for individual rating increases then you will want to upgrade the Power archetype and stay far away from the Pass Protector archetype.

Reality Is More Complicated Than That

It really isn’t that simple though. If you run an offense where you pass the majority of the time, it still makes sense to upgrade the Pass Protector archetype.

If you run a power run style offense or are going against players with high Power Moves on defense, it makes sense to upgrade the Power archetype.

And if you are worried about players with high finesse moves beating you off the edge, it makes sense to upgrade the Agile archetype.

It all depends on your situation.

Additional Information

That all being said, it can help to provide some additional information.

When you upgrade the Pass Protector archetype you will never get any sort of run blocking upgrade. Out of the 142 individual ratings increases we received in 50 tests,137 of them were either AWR (27), PBF (56), PBP (36), or PBK (18). Those 4 attributes will account for 96%+ of any upgrade you receive.

When you upgrade the Agile archetype, you will get an insane amount of PBF as well as a good chunk of RBF. Out of the 212 total individual upgrades we received in 50 tests, 70 were PBF and 45 were RBF. You will never receive any PBP or RBP when upgrading the Agile archetype

When you upgrade the Power archetype, you will mostly get 1 of 4 different rating increases: RBP (63), LBK (45), RB (41), PBP (37) out of 236 total. You will never receive ant PBF or RBF when upgrade the Power archetype.

You can see that the Power archetype rating increases are skewed more toward the running game while the agile rating increases are skewed slightly toward the passing game.

Final Rankings, Raw Data, Conclusion

As we went over above, there really isn’t one dominant archetype for offensive linemen. If we had to do a ranking it would be:

  1. Agile
  2. Pass Protector
  3. Power

But take this ranking with a huge grain of salt.
