Continuing on in our series of the best archetypes to upgrade in Madden’s franchise mode, today we are covering Kickers and Punters.
We spent thousands of skill points on all of the different archetypes for each position and documented the results of our experiment. This effort took weeks of data collection and man hours and we hope that you find the actionable takeaways from it.
Kicker & Punter Archetypes
There are 2 archetypes you can use your skill points on to upgrade kickers or punters in Madden.
- Power
- Accuracy
We spent 50 skill points on each of these archetypes and recorded our findings.
Our Recommendation For Upgrading Kickers And Punters
This one is simple and straight to the point. When upgrading either kicker or punter, you will always want to upgrade the Power archetype.
Highest Expected Value For Total Attribute Increases
- Power (Punter): 135 rating increases on 50 attempts. Expected Value = 2.7
- Power (Kicker): 130 rating increases on 50 attempts. Expected Value = 2.6
- Accurate (Punter): 117 rating increases on 50 attempts. Expected Value = 2.34
- Accurate (Kicker): 112 rating increases on 50 attempts. Expected Value = 2.24
Expected Values For Ratings That Matter
With Kickers and Punters it is easy to break down the numbers further because they only get upgrades in 3 individual attributes: KPW, KAC, AWR.
Power (Punter) = 135 rating increases
- 17 KPW
- 45 KAC
- 73 AWR
Power (Kicker) = 130 rating increases
- 19 KPW
- 40 KAC
- 71 AWR
Accurate (Punter) = 117 rating increases
- 5 KPW
- 42 KAC
- 70 AWR
Accurate (Kicker) = 112 rating increases
- 8 KPW
- 49 KAC
- 55 AWR
You can see that in all cases, the attribute that most gamers want most (Kick Power) is relatively rare but it is MUCH more rare when you upgrade the Accurate archetype than when you upgrade the Power archetype.
The big surprise is that you really don’t sacrifice very much kick accuracy increases either when you upgrade Power over Accuracy.
Final Ratings, Raw Data, and Conclusion
This one is very clear. You should always upgrade Power over Accurate for kickers and punters.
