4-3 Over

Playbook: Most 4-3 playbooks but not in the Jacksonville PB (This same concept can easily be created in the Jaguars playbook)

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Mike Will Blitz

Setup:

  1. Press Coverage
  2. Spread the defensive line
  3. Crash defensive line out
  4. Spy the defensive end on the right side of the screen

Overview:  This play in the 43 over scheme blitzes from the left side. It is very quick pressure while only blitzing 5 people and having a spy on the field. User the player that is guarding the running back. The key is to take away your opponent’s first read. By that time the pressure should be there and will result in either a sack or a forced pass that can result in a turnover.

Playbook: Jacksonville Jaguars

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Sam Will Blitz

Setup:

  1. Press Coverage
  2. Spread the defensive line
  3. Crash defensive line out
  4. Spy the linebacker on the left side of the screen

Overview:  This part of the 43 Over scheme is blitzing in man defense from the right side. This play looks exactly like the Mike Will Blitz to your opponent. So essentially having this play keeps them guessing, and they will not know where the blitz is coming from. That will be huge if your opponent starts slide protecting. Again, user the man covering the running back and take away your opponents’ first read.

Playbook: Jacksonville Jaguars

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Cover 3 Sky (Right Side)

Setup:

  1. Base Align
  2. Press Coverage
  3. Spread the defensive line and crash them down
  4. Blitz both the linebacker and safety on the right side of the screen
  5. Put the defensive end on the left side of the screen into a QB Spy

Overview:  This part of the 43 Over scheme still appears to the opponent as the same setup as all the others. Which makes your opponent guess which side the blitz will be coming from. This will create even more pressure for the opponent. User the linebacker in the yellow zone and guard the right side of the field because it is weak on that side because of the blitz. Keep in mind you can run this set up out of other plays as well such as, Cover 4, Cover 2 man, Tampa 2.

Playbook: Jacksonville Jaguars

Formation: 4-3 Over

Play: Cover 3 Sky (left side)

Setup:

  1. Base Align
  2. Press Coverage
  3. Spread the defensive line and crash them down
  4. Blitz both the linebackers on the left side of the screen
  5. Put the defensive end on the right side of the screen in a QB Spy

Overview: This is a very similar blitz to the last Cover 3 Sky setup but this time it brings the pressure from the left side.

Hi. I really like the step by step instructions on how to set up the play, but I am new to madden and cant get all of the adjustments done fast enough before my opponent snaps the ball. Is there a way where u guys can show me on how to make the adjustments faster. For example, please show me how to crash/pinch defensive line, how to put your defensive ends both in a qb spy, how to blitz my rolb and lolb quickly. I really appreciate it. I just want to get faster at making those pre-snap adjustments before my opponent.

I completely understand. First off whichever console you got either PS4 or Xbox, there are hotkeys so that way you don’t have to individually click on defenders because that is so time-consuming.

So some preplay hotkeys for you:
L1 or LB – is for the linemen. If you double click (L1) you will see a menu pop up that you can easily assign a lineman in whatever individual audible scheme you want him in.

R1 or RB – is for the linebackers. If you double click (R1) you will see a menu pop up that you can easily assign a linebacker in whatever individual audible scheme you want him in.

Triangle or Y – is for the DBs. If you double click (Triangle) you will see a menu pop up that you can easily assign a DB in whatever individual audible scheme you want him in.

If you practice practice practice your favorite defense plays using these keys you will save time especially when you play online.
