Fix replay system

I think the changes I would like to see are in the CFM. Player regression can get a little out of hand sometimes. I think if a player that is at the age of major regression has a great yr that player should regress less. For players that are older that have a sub par season regression is understandable. I think more milestone goals for players should be added to the list of players goals, such as bounce back season(XP gain would be like 25,000). I’m sure more milestone goals could be added, but that was just an example. Player retirement ages should be extended. Thomas Davis for the Carolina Panthers retired after completing the first season, which was a bummer! I mean you could maybe have one of those freak retirements in a season, like Barry Sanders or something, but c’mon man. All players names should be called out in the game that come from the draft. Recruiting should be more in depth, still use the grading scale, but expand what attributes you can see. I think with players that come out of the draft should have more back round stories, especially when the announces are talking about the player. CPU teams that draft player should draft to team needs. I have been seeing a lot of 1st and 2nd round draft picks that are superstar development being cut from teams. It doesn’t make sense. The trade system is broken in the CFM. Trading needs to be more realistic. Signing players need to be more realistic. Players that have below average seasons still want more money when in contract negotiations. More CPU players need to hit the free agency market. It would be cool to see 5-6 big names pop up on the off season free agency list. When relocating ur team should only be able to relocate city. Those relocation teams brands that you can select from are garbage! Why would you change Green Bay Packers to the whatever Devils or Jack rabbits or whatever you can pick from. It would never happen!!! There needs to be like 3-4 cut scene intros, 3-4 player cut senses, 3-4 playoff win cut scenes, 3-4 Super Bowl cut scenes, more player celebrations, more team celebrations, etc., etc. Just get rid of that LongShot crap so you can fit all of this stuff in. I was prolly all over the place with what i would like to see, but hey it is what is. Theres tons more i could say about the CFM in madden, but this is all I could think of at the moment. Im sure everyone else out there has covered the rest. Thanks!

Incorporate Head Coach into CFM. If I do a CFM as a player, I should control the player in games but should not be able to control roster moves or make owner decisions. If I choose to do a CFM as a coach, I call the plays and watch the players execute the plays. As a coach, I would have access to make personnel moves. If I choose to do a CFM as an owner, I can manage stadium, concessions, staff/player salaries; however, you can only watch the games (no play calling or controlling players)

This is an interesting take on CFM. Personally I hate CFM, I thought 07 superstar mode was light years better. You should not be able to choose your own team in any of the three categories. If you’re a player you should get drafted top whoever needs you. If you are a coach then depending on your style of play you could get hired on as a HC, OC or DC. If you stop well enough you should get an option of staying with your team with a greater possibility of being the HC there or leave to pursue other options. The owner would be very different however I like what you said about it so I won’t say anymore on that. This is why NBA 2K and MLB the show is much better than Madden. Madden could still make money with their MUT but if they put something like what you and I have said with these visuals. This would truly be amazing.

They should also update the practice mode to a full scrimmage mode like they have in nba 2k18

I would love them to add offensive and defensive coordinators to CFM. That would add lots of depth to the game mode and it would be nice to see teams change schemes and have adjustments happen to their roster based off the strengths of the head coach and his coordinators. There would an extra week in the offseason where coordinators are changing teams so that would add more fun to CFM and it’s offseason

I wrote this in 2010 and it most of it still applies to Franchise Mode today…. EA give me a JOB!

“I love Franchise Mode and its what has me coming back every year to purchase Madden. Since its introduction in 1998, I would look forward to the improvements on it every year. However since Madden has gotten to the PS3 there have been little to no improvements for fans like myself in this area, and actually there have been declines since the last generation. So to help EA get the ball rolling here are a few suggestions.

Event Calendar – After the super bowl is played on February 6th I don’t want to just jump in to renovating the stadium, hiring/firing coaches, hiring scouts and deciding whether I want to move my team to a different city or not. I want a calendar in place so I can schedule things like interviewing new coaches, making a trip to the combine, scheduling visits with free agents and working out new sponsorships for my team.

Hiring Front Office – Put the General Managers, Directors of Player Personnel, and other front office positions in the game. Have Robert Craft running the Patriots and have guys that used to help him like Scott Pioli (now in KC) and Thomas Dimitroff (now in Atlanta) getting jobs with other franchises. You don’t have to get too crazy but Owner, General Manager, Senior Football Advisor, Director of Player Personnel, and Director of College Scouting should all be in the office doing work. Each front office staff should have a blueprint on how to build the team like the Patriots and Eagles cutting guys in their 30s to replace them with rookies or the Cowboys and Redskins signing guys entering their 30s to big contracts. You as the Owner should have final say but let your staff give you suggestions on coaches, free agents, guys to cut and the upcoming rookie class.

Full Coaching Staff – As the owner/CEO I want the ability to hire a coaching staff, not just a head coach and 2 coordinators. I want to hire a head coach, assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, special teams coach, QB coach, RB coach, WR coach, OL coach, DL coach, LB coach, DB coach and a strength & condition coach.
Give these coaches a career path and personalities, if my offense is averaging 30 points a game have other teams start interviewing my coordinator for their head coaching gig and other coaches interviewing my WR coach for his open offensive coordinator spot.

Give Coaches more life – Have coaches’ personality (or lack of) influence the players on the roster. Rex Ryan is beloved by his players while Wade Phillips was fired because of his lack of respect from players.
Give each coach his own system that includes the way he treats the locker room, how he responds to losses and his overall strategy with offense and defense.
The coaches need to have a set of ratings as well like, game planning, mid game adjustments, discipline, motivation, and development.
If a team hires a new coach have his system affect the players ratings based upon his system and even have them clean house depending on their personalities.

Add Customized Plays/Playbooks – Bring back the ability to create plays, edit existing plays and create a full playbook off of created and imported plays from other teams. Bring back substitutions in packages in the main menu.

Change Progression – Move a players rating up or down depending on stats from their previous season. If a player earns a trip to the Pro Bowl, or earns an award than that should improve them even more. Add progression in season as well like the old generation did every 4 weeks.

Player Ratings – Different variables should affect a player’s game rating. If a player is coming off of an ankle injury it should affect their speed, route running and all other things. If I get rid of a coach that runs a 4-3 and I hire a guy that specializes in a 3-4 give me the ability to turn DEs in to LBs and coach them up to improve their rating.

Fix Free Agency – How free agency is currently done isn’t realistic enough, you just have a list of players and you start your bidding for their services. It should highlight the start of free agency on your calendar with a certain date. When free agency begins you should have a list of the available players and have the opportunity to give them a call and schedule a visit for that player to come in to town so you can interview him and make an offer. If another team gets a visit first and doesn’t let your desired player leave without a contract then you have to cross that player off your list. You should also be able to cancel on players you had scheduled if you get your number 1 guy to sign. Also in real life about this time of year teams will place a player on the trading block (Carolina Panthers – Julius Peppers) and you should be notified so you can decide if you want to make a run at them. And of course bring back the restricted free agents along with the unhappy contract holdouts.

Fix the Draft – First, I can’t stand the measurements of the games made up rookies to be. Come on, a 5’10 middle linebacker is the exception not the average, it goes for a 5’11 quarterbacks or 6’3 235 lbs defensive linemen. Give me real measurable for these guys and if a guy is too small for the defensive line let me scout him at linebacker. And give me the ability to edit the guys name, height, and weight, not just his school.
Let each team scouts decide what players are valued high to assemble your own draft board if you choose. Get outside analyst like Mel Kiper and Tod McShay to give their projections on the draft.
Have more prospects than just 275, I hate getting in to the 7th round and having no players available at any given position, there needs to be at least 15 players left at every position by the time “Mr. Irrelevant” is selected.
Just after that final pick, teams need to scramble to sign the undrafted players left over in hopes of finding the next Tony Romo.
Add the ability to trade future draft picks, if I’m trying to move back in to the 1st or 2nd round I might need to throw in next years 2nd or 3rd rounder.
Add the NFL Combine and player pro visits so we can handle the rookies before spending a draft pick on them.
When importing a draft class from NCAA, give us the ability to edit the class to make it more realistic, I’m sick of small defensive linemen that you can’t use in a 3-4 defense at linebacker because their rating drops 25 – 30 points.
Do not limit the number of draft picks I can have for one year. If I am building for the future and am able to get 15 draft picks for this year let me do it!
Put in a create a “NFL Prospect” like NCAA lets you do with recruits.

Bring Back Training Camp – Add an offseason roster that I can take in to training camp with 80 players. Make training camp useful with the ability to run drills to get attribute points like on the old generation. As I get in to preseason I want the ability to cut players to get down to the roster limits and build a practice squad that I can call guys up from if I get a player that is injured.

Bring Back the Media – I miss the newspaper articles that were local that just gave updates for my team. Bring in nfl.com, ESPN sportscenter to give us predictions on those weeks’ game, scouting projections on college junior and seniors, and inside injury updates.

Trophy Room – Give each team its own trophy room that displays Division Championships, Conference Championships, and Super Bowl Trophies. Right now each player has a spot to keep track of his accomplishments but it should give them Super Bowl Rings along with trophies for their awards. If a player earns a game ball put it there. Coaches should have a spot for their awards and rings as well.

Real Stadium Renovation – If your going to put in the option to renovate your current franchises stadium with actual cost I want to see those appear on screen and during games. It’d be even better if the commentators pointed out big changes in the pregame like a retractable field or retractable roof. We want to see the actual changes!

Building New Stadiums – I’m not big on building new stadiums for my teams but that’s probably due to the lack of options. Teams are opening new stadiums today more than ever and they are getting more and more lavish. Give me the ability to pick from a thousand options like what type of LED screens are going in to it, whether its going to have a retractable field, rolling roof, customized seating etc. Let us start our own blueprints from the ground up.

Stadium Sponsorship – I’m sick of seeing made up company names to sponsor my stadium. Get real companies to offer their rights to sponsor my stadium like Nike, Reebok, Under Armour, Gatorade, Coke, Pepsi, Visa, General Motors etc.

NFL Schedules – I’m sick of my team going 15-1 and winning to the Super Bowl only to see that they get no Sunday Night Games and 1 Monday Night Football game on next years schedule. Give me my prime time spotlight.

Hall of Fame – Actually have a hall of fame induction with real nominees for that year, put the limit to the 7 like in real life. Put the correct amount of time from when a player retires to when he is eligible. If a player has a record breaking game have that game jersey retired to show the accomplishment.

More Stats – I think Madden does a good job in this department with the Career Records, Season Records and Single Game Records but why not add these for each team so you can beat your franchises own records. Also keep track of how many 100 yard games a receiver or running back get, how many times a QB throws for 3 or more touchdowns in his career. And if a team is doing something big, like shutting out opponents have the commentators talk about the last time they have done that. Keep track of draft classes so you can see how Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy compare to each other in 10 years. You can never have too much statistics so add as many as possible please.

Fantasy Section – There should be a section aside from the stats that focuses on the kind of fantasy year your players are having. It should show their average place taken in a fantasy draft, their percent of starts, and their averages. Also have a analyst give a prediction on your players points scored for the upcoming week.

Well, thanks for listening!”

I WISH (as a frequent Madden player since Madden ’04!) that Madden 19 will:

1. Overhaul Franchise mode. It’s stale, boring and I usually can only stand playing a year or two. Changes to be made could be
– Unique Team Play – Playing the Texans should feel differently than playing the Patriots. The playbooks are different, the style of play is different (defense + ground and pound vs. Motion Offense with heavy use of different running backs and hurry up offense).

– Draft classes – I know they can’t use the REAL college football player names, but could it be possible to make draft classes that resemble what is going on in college? This year has many exciting QB prospects. Couldn’t they have draft classes that maybe mirrored that without plagiarising?

– THEY NEED A NEW TONY BRUNO SHOW! I get tired of the same music playing for hours, and weeks on end…

– Practicing is boring. They need to find a way to make it WORTH doing as opposed to just putting it on “auto”.

– Game-planning – This should be unique, week by week. Game plans change because of who you are playing, injuries, or new acquisitions. If I’m playing the Jags, I cannot just air it out and expect to win. I may have to move my best receiver into the slot, use more of a swing tackle rather than a tight end, maybe use more play-action, whatever! It should affect my playbook, my play calls, my personnel and it should be useful, necessary and fun!

– Customized Playbooks Subs – How come I cannot have a setting where I put Kamara in at all or most shotgun formations and leave Ingram in at singleback and I-formation and strong-formation AND THEN IT SAVES! I HATE having to do the same thing EVERY SINGLE GAME! Same goes for defense with sub-rushers. You can technically do this IF you don’t use a customized playbook. Why can’t I have pre-determined subs with a customized playbook?

– Owner mode is broken and lame. MVP Baseball 2005 owner mode was SOOO much fun! Tinkering with prices, coming up with promotional days, having to trade expensive contracts or go after bargain free agents and develop players was realistic and fun and actually made a discernable difference! It wasn’t just random, I had to spend time and I saw ACTUAL results! I also loved designing my own stadium. There is no reason to play owner mode. It’s just kinda. There.

2. Blocking – For the love of Drew Breezus can they fix the run and pass blocking? My linemen seem to rocket pass obvious tacklers or sometimes just sit and watch or just not block anybody. It has been getting much better but still needs some improvement.

3. New Skill Attributes – There should be “pass rushing” and “run defense” attributes. I am so tired of being sacked 2-3 times in a game by a guy who has 2-3 career sacks. Or is regularly subbed out during passing situations. And vice versa! Some guys play the run terribly. They should sell out for the pass or not set the edge well. This would tie-into game planning and make playing different teams feel unique.

4. Team Attributes – This can be updated weekly. There is SO much info out there. Some teams play the run bad. They give up 4.5 yards per carry or 120 yards per game. When I play that team, I should be able to run on them because of scheme or team attributes which contribute to their problems to stop the run or pass or play action or running QB etc.

5. Tinker with QB-play and accuracy – There should be fewer interceptions and more incomplete passes. Sometimes it just feels like Madden wants me to lose. I can hit an open guy, but he drops it. Or I airmail a pass that to a guy 5 yards away. It seems pre-determined, which is odd. Same with sacks. I understand that guys miss open guys sometimes but it doesn’t seem balanced. I could play against Jay Cutler and he go 20-20 in a game but when I play as Drew Brees he misses on 4-5 passes (he just set a record for completion % ya know?) and then has dropped passes? How do I beat the other guy, if it feels like Madden has pre-determined that I will lose??

It’s definitely time for some changes in franchise mode. Let’s start with the offseason.

– You should be able to talk players out of retirement and return on a 1 yr or 2 yr deal. They shouldn’t just abruptly retire. Unless your team goes out in perfect fashion of winning the super bowl.
-Just like today, you should have players you can cut/release before the start of free agency aka before the new league year begins so you don’t have to take on so-so 12 million dollar salary, you can cut him now for 2 million just depending on the contract.
-Free Agency, there should be a level tier rating like 1-5 stars. If you’re 90+ you’re a 5 Star FA, 85-90 you’re a 4 Star. Obviously 5 Star guys all sign within 2-3 days and you should be able to schedule visits but maybe you only get so many visits per week so you have to make them count.
-Mock Drafts/Revamp Draft. Let’s build up the hype to the draft just like we do in real life. NBA 2k18 has downloadable real draft classes madden 18 should too. Througout the season players rise & fall and mock drafts change per performances and grades. Make the combine & senior bowl realistic. They should take me to the draft and have the commissioner walk on stage and announce pick by pick up make the hype real. And let’s say I have the 6th pick and when my pick comes it gives me 2 options. I can choose a player, or field trade offers. Hit that option and see if anybody wants to offer you a trade.
-After the draft. You should be able to add any veteran free agents to complete your team heading into training camp as well as negotiate extensions for some of your players.

Let’s bring back training camp. Was such a fun & cool interactive way to improve some players you wanted to focus on.

-More realistic play calling. I shouldn’t be able to run the same curl route 10 time and the defenses not making any adjustments. Make the AI system smarter. Make gameplaning more important by gsmdpkan should change with my opponent. My game plan should be different against a run attack team like the jags compared to a air it out team like the packers.
-need to see more just deflections , batted balls, or just missed throws. feel like it’s boom or bust my qb seems to be like 18-22 but his incompletions are interceptions. Seems like it’s an incompletion or interception.
– injuries if my player breaks his leg let’s bring out the cart, etc.
-sideline graphics are awful
-crowds are always sold out, no home field advantage feel. Let’s get the crowd more interactive.

I want to see more Draft impact. If the falcons draft a QB in the first Rd and they have Ryan for 3 more years on contract, I’d like to see interaction between the coach and GM. Giving options to user controlled teams like “1. Do you want this 1st rd QB to sit and learn. 2. Would you like me to explore a trade for Ryan. This year or next offseason?” Kind of figure out the plan for each player. Right now I hate seeing the Seahawks draft a qb rd 1 when they have Russell Wilson , unless he’s no longer in their plans and they trade Wilson . Same thing with RBs and every other position. If you go to sign a DE in FA and you have Graham, Barnett, Bennett, Long … the GM should interact with questions about plans for this player. The jags drafted Fournette #4 overall. Now if next year they draft a RB in Rd2, the GM should interact with plans for this player. Like are you looking for a 1-2 punch at RB ? Or will you keep Fournette as the Feature Back?

I want it to get more realistic. And the players in the draft mostly suck. Gotta fix that.

You have to realize most rookies suck. A draft class has a 5-10 players who can play right away outside of line man. So the draft classes i feel are actually pretty good. I would like to do away from the points system to scout though. I would a scouting specialist and he finds the players.
