Ways To Beat The Most Common Zone Defense in Madden 15

Chances are if you’ve played any Madden game in the last few years, you’ve seen a heavy dose of Cover 3 defense.  In this post, SnA Exclusive is going over a few of his favorite ways to beat it.

Playbook: Green Bay

Formation(s): Shotgun Bunch Wk and Shotgun Trips Y Iso

Play(s): Curl Flat/Verticals and Spacing

Setup:

Curl Flat –> Run as default
Verticals –> Slant route the A WR
Spacing –> Slant the backside WR

Universal –> Slant backside or slot WR on RB side, hot route HB to a go route

Overview: Cover 3 is one of, if not the most popular zone coverage in Madden. Beating it can be tricky at times due to the default 8 man in the box look it provides. However, we are going to expose some weaknesses in the coverage that you can take advantage of.

The areas of the field we want to look at are the areas in the slot that are beneath the deep corner, over the top of the flat defender, and away from the ILB’s. I’ll show you some different ways to manipulate the coverage and get the defense to open up WR’s for you, thus making your job much easier.
