Washington Redskins in 2010

Donovan McNabb, Mike Shananan, Larry Johnson, Willie Parker, Jamaal Brown, Adam Carriker, Trent Williams (draft) and Ma’ake Kemoueatu. Those are all of the offseason acquisitions the Redskins have made in 2010, and should tell other NFL fans that they’re for real this time around. We all know how the Redskins usually work every year, sign some big guy in FA, start off good, then die off in the end of the season, and fire another coach. Well, this time with the hiring of established coach, Mike Shananan, the Redskins shouldn’t have that problem this year. The trade for McNabb wasn’t really needed, but hey, he’s pretty good! The WR corps for Skins cna be very nice, btu at this moment they are inexperienced, and probably needs some more years to mature. Santana Moss is the best WR on the team, and the veteran helping teach the young guys such as Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. What’s really good about the Skins though, is the fact they have 2 big time receivers at TE with Chris Cooley and Fred Davis. McNabb will have plenty of targets to throw to, but the meat and potatoes of every Shananan offense is the run game. With the offensive linemen apparently shored up, the zone blocking scheme of Shananan’s should be interesting to see this year, as they have 3 capable backs in Portis, Johnson, and Parker. For now, Portis is the starter, but who knows who will emerge as the best back out of the 3? It is a good dilemma to have though.

The defense was very solid last year, with London Fletcher-Baker leading the way. The new DTs Skins got should help them out in the new 3-4 system they are implementing. Haynesworth….is a big question. Will he play? Will he be traded? If he does play, will he be the DE or DT? Who knows….The rest of the defense is very solid, and can only improve this season. Laron Landry is going back to his natural position at SS, which can only help the defense out even more. Who will be at FS? Kareem Moore or Chris Horton will take over the role.

Prediction – I can see the Redskins surprising some people and pulling off some nice upsets in the always tough NFC East division. It all depend son how well McNabb plays and his WRs, as well as the run game.

i will say 9-7 3rd place in the NFC East, just narrowly missing out the Wildcard
