How does a person come up with their online nickname? What is the meaning behind their online ID? Is it a reflection of who they really are? There are endless possibilities when it comes to choosing and creating a nickname for online gameplay. The following are just a few examples of online player IDs and their meanings (these are actual nicknames from PSN and XBL):

XMurkerX207X

Perhaps the scariest of all gamer tags are the ones where they threaten you with murder or give you the impression they are going to stab you in the neck with a rusty screwdriver. Let’s break it down section by section.

The “x” obviously means they are serious and are not to be messed with. Nobody uses the 24^th letter in the alphabet with the intention of wanting to have a long discussion about the political unrest of the Palestinian state of Israel and the potential implications of having a Jewish state. When there is an “x”in the name, it is a warning to all opponents that they mean business.

The next part is the word “murker.” This may not even be a real word (it is btw), but don’t tell this gamer either way. The word “murker” most likely comes from the word “murk” which means to defeat someone to the point that they should never show their face again (urbandictionary.com).

Finally, we are left to deal with the numbers “207.” In most cases, three numbers usually represent a hometown of the player (Reggie Bush receives a 4 cent royalty fee for using these numbers ever since he made it cool when he put them on his eye-black patches). Where is area code 207 you might ask? None other than the OG (original gangsta) state of Maine. That’s right! Mother f’ing Maine, yo!

Bottom line is do not, I repeat, DO NOT, take this gamer lightly. When someone from Maine wants to defeat you to the point of utter embarrassment while carrying the weight of every “murker” in the state, topped off with the third to last letter of the alphabet incorporated into their name, you better be on your “A” game. One last piece of advice: you better start sleeping with a nightlight and blunt object hidden under your pillow if you defeat this player.

JuGGaL0 420

Upon first glance, there isn’t much to this simple nickname. There are a few cute letters strung together followed by a three-digit number (see above example for possible meaning of three digit number). Upon further examination however, it is clearly a complex nickname.

Take the first half-the word “Juggalo.” For those who live in a cave, this refers to a follower of the inspirational musical lyrics produced by the group ICP (Insane Clown Posse). Most likely, this player lives with a close family member in the back end of a mobile housing unit. Just because this player barely qualified to attend their high school graduation does not mean they are a complete idiot. Ordinary idiots cannot talk their mom into putting a cartoon character of a man running with a hatchet on the back window of their 1987 Buick Skylark in the form of a sticker. These types of people are advanced idiots.

The next half of the epithet is the number “420.” The uneducated may view this as the area code for the tropical paradise of Hawaii, but there is a 94% chance this gamer meant it to represent that he smokes….drum roll, please-marijuana. Marijuana is the drug of choice for these players and because he has the number four-two-zero in his online nickname, he most likely smokes it whenever possible. This player may have a short-lived video game career. Eventually, they will need to pawn off their gaming system to purchase a weekend of enjoyment accompanied by hits from a methamphetamine pipe or stamps of acid.

Final note: the “o” in the nickname is actually a zero, meaning this gamer is not alone and the ever-original nickname is in use by someone else. God help us all.

GoDZ-PuRPoz

God works in mysterious ways. This player obviously had a vision of the almighty creator, and it told him to serve his holiness through the world of video games. It is not essential to spell things properly, let alone your online player ID, when serving a greater power. Saving souls and putting the letter “z” to use whenever remotely possible is the agenda of this player. If the letter “s” and the correct spelling would have been used, it would have lost all meaning and this gamer would be doomed to a life of correct grammar and be just another ordinary electronic thespian.

Just having the word of a supreme being in your nickname will give you a distinct advantage over your opponent. Let’s just hope this player does not rest their controller on top of the book known as the Bible while they are attending church. A controller soaking up all that knowledge via osmosis would render the player unstoppable and their thumbs a tool of supreme deity in the gaming world.

Many people in life need to embrace the grace of divinity. That is this gamer’s purpose. Obviously.

DE: Suh *Placing him at DE will give him more pass rushing situations than at Nose Tackle, this guy is unblockable by 1 person already*

DT: H. Ngata *No explanation needed – ultimate nose tackle

OLB: Clay Matthews *He finished the 2010 season with a 2 inch long stress fracture in his ankle.. and was dominant, leading his defense to a SuperBowl win.. I’ll take him healthy anyday!*
OLB: Woodley *Over the last 3 seasons, he has missed 1 game and had over 10 sacks each season. Harrison gets all the attention but Woodley is the better player*

Honorable mention to DeMarcus Ware.. I would run 3 OLBs if allowed lol

MLB: Jon Beason *This guy was the SuperStar on a Panthers team with no help on the Dline to get blockers off him. Yet he sheds the blocks and makes the needed tackles regardless.
MLB: Willis *MLB lists start and end here, and age puts his value even higher.

CB: Revis *This guy shut down 6 of the top receivers in the NFL last season – SHUT DOWN! The only reason not to put him on a dream team is bitterness that he owned your team (and mine).
CB: Charles Woodson *There may be better pure cover corners (see Asomough), however with all the strengths of this team, I want an additional playmaker. Woodson is just that, his ability to support in the run is invaluable, not to mention in Nickel situations you can bring him as an additional blitzer*

S: Polamalu *Find a game where he was moderately healthy and tell me he didn’t make any big plays – this guy is electric and an All-Time All-Timer*
S: Ed Reed *Deep passes would not be attempted with these 2 guys dropping deep, because they will beat your receiver to the ball and make a play on it more than not.*

With Madden 12 now available, we at madden-school decided to put up a few madden tips that have worked before and will help you in this year’s game as well as future games.  Below is a list of the best madden 12 tips that we could give to you without already having a copy of the game.

Speed Kills

The most common team used by madden pro’s over the last 3 years have been the Oakland Raiders.  During that time, they have never had a winning percentage over .500.  They don’t have an elite QB, they don’t have spectacular overall player ratings and they aren’t thought of as a dominant team in the NFL.  However, what they do have is lots of speed.  If you look at the raiders position by position, they have more speed than any other team in madden 11.  Based on the 2011 NFL Draft, they have acquired even more speed on both offense and defense.  Like all other madden’s speed will be the most important player rating in madden 12.

Hit up practice mode

Most gamers never spend the time to find plays that work consistently.  When you are in a game, your primary focus is winning.  When you are in practice mode, your focus shifts to finding money plays that consistently work.  In practice mode, you can play around with audibles, formations and personnel.  If you find a play that you think works, you can run the play over and over against all different kinds of defenses.  The more reps you get, the better you will be.  Practice mode also gives you the advantage of instant replay.  You can go back and take a look at why something worked or didn’t work.  Maybe you missed a wide open receiver; maybe your offensive line just missed a block.  Whatever the reason is, in practice mode you are able to sort it all out.  After a good lab session in practice mode, you should head into an online madden 12 game with an entire offensive scheme that you are comfortable with.

Find some friends to lab with

A website like madden-school.com serves many purposes.  We provide free madden 12 tips, bring you the latest news, sell madden ebooks, and we have a fantastic madden 12 forum.  Our madden forum has thousands of active gamers of all different skill levels looking for people to practice with.  Once you are comfortable in practice mode, you should take it to the next level and see if the plays you found in practice mode actually work against a live opponent.  If you have people to practice online with in unranked matches, you can bounce ideas off of each other and sometimes even take something that you see works well for a friend and incorporate it into your scheme.

Find a team that fits your style

One of the more common mistakes in madden is for people to use the hyped up teams even if it does not fit their playing style.  If you use a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars, you should run the ball.  If you use a team like the Green Bay Packers, you should pass the ball.  You shouldn’t take a scheme that you find on a madden forum and try to copy it.  You have to know what works best for the team that you prefer.  Play to your strengths and don’t just jump ship to a new trendy playbook.

Play Defense

Having a good defense will be so much more important than having a good offense in madden 12.  It has been that way in all of the previous madden’s and it won’t change this year.  It is so common to try to put up 50 points and just outscore your opponent but when you come across a seasoned madden gamer, you will realize that you will be lucky to get over 20 points so you will need to play some defense.  Just like at any level of football, whichever team wins the turnover battle will likely win the game.  If you have a defense that can force turnovers, you can put your opponent in difficult situations which will directly lead to more wins than losses.
