TimSchroeder’s Chicago Bears Prediction

madden 11 chicago bears

The Bears have had varying degrees of success in the past few seasons. Obviously their best success was when the Bears defense carried them to a Super Bowl in spite of “Sexy” Rex Grossman. Now that the Bears have a QB that can actually make some good throws, albeit not always good decisions, they can create some serious havoc in the NFC North. After one year of getting used to the Bears offensive system, Jay Cutler can begin to put up his MVP type numbers from the 2008 Denver Broncos season. In a Mike Martz system, the Bears new offensive coordinator, QBs always thrive and put up huge numbers, i.e. Jon Kitna, Kurt Warner, etc. Jay Cutler has some weapons at his disposal with the two Devins at receiver, Hester and Aromashadu, along with Matt Forte controlling the ground game and Greg Olsen holding it down over the middle of the field, so the Bears offense looks to be very promising.

However, a good offense may be a great addition, but defense is just as important to win a championship. With a defense that Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Julius Peppers, and a nice young safety in Major Wright, the Bears defense has some serious hopes of renewing their old adage of defense wins championship by eliminating any offensive assault. With new defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli pushing his team to its fullest potential the defense can possibly be spectacular. Rod Marinelli is a defensive line specialist and if he can get Julius Peppers to reach his peak, then the Bears defensive line could be one of the best in all of football.

Let’s hope for a good Bears season! My prediction is 2nd in the NFC North at 10-6. GOOD LUCK BEARS!

The Lions will not beat the bears but the bears will not make it to 10-6 this year my friend to many good teams this year. There wr core is too poor and the defense is getting very old and injuries are a bummer, but I see the bears at 7-9 or 8-8,if the bears make it to 10-6 that means the wrs stepped up and the defense proved they still can play.I dont like the bears but I always root for devin hester when he touches the ball, hes one of my favorite players.

the joker: I agree that 10-6 is probably a bit optimistic considering we got GB and Minnesota in our division, but I completely disagree when you say our WRs are poor. They are a strength to the Bears, and they were the 5th best combined WR corps in the league last year. And if you look at WRs in Mike Martz’s systems, the quickest ones thrived, and then if you look at our WRs, you’ll notice that every one of them is fast.

Not to mention, Forte won’t be injured this year, and hopefully our aging defensive members can keep from getting too banged up.

If our defense plays well though, I think we could easily go 10-6. That’s why I called it optimistic; our Cover 2 defense doesn’t play well without a pass rush, and getting Julius Peppers won’t make much difference when you’re replacing Alex Brown and Odewale Ogunleye with Mark Anderson and Israel Idonije.
