‘Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall… ‘ then someone came along and tricked them into taking a banned substance to make the wall fall……
Two years ago Pat and Kevin Williams were suspended from the season for 4 games for taking the banned diuretic Bumetanide with their morning donuts. They said that although they didn’t believe that the Williams Wall (as they have become known for their rush stoppage) were taking steroids but the masking properties of Bumetanide still violated the NFL’s Substance Rules. So they suspended them for 4 games. Pat and Kevin fought back. In court the judges have gone from one side to another all across the spectrum. From upholding the suspensions to saying that the NFL broke the law by not informing the players that Starcaps contained Bumetanide to the Starcap company themselves for failing to list the substancve in the product. Argue argue argue. Like children. hmmm… Like children. Like my children. If I was daddy here I’m sure I would have found a way to say “I see what you have done. I understand that mostly it wasn’t your fault. You have to be punished, but only to the extent of your involvement. So, maybe a $5,000 fine sounds about right.” This going after the wall the way the NFL did only shows ignorance if you ask me. Even if you don’t ask me. The Vikings appear to have become too good. This was shown when it was hunting season for Brett Favre against the Saints and the undermining of the foundation of our defense by trying to topple the wall. We Vikings fans have mostly gotten over the plethora of calls, made and not made, in that Saints game but this continued attack on our wall is becoming irritating.
Well, we have at least won the major battle. The Wall will stand this entire season. A panel of judges upheld the injunction the NFL was trying to lift so that they could impose the 4 game suspension. w00t. So, at least for this next season, our Wall stands strong, our General still leads and our crop of power players continues to improve.
I do believe this will be a season to remember.
