Seattle Seahawks in 2010

Charlie Whitehurst????? Really???? Anyways, yet another sleeper team for the 2010-2011 season, the Seahawks has had an impressive offseason so far. They hired former USC coach Pete Carroll, who wasn’t a miserable failure in the NFL as he was portrayed to be, in fact he had an above .500 record! With a new, fresh coach, the Seahawks started to change alot. Their draft, considered to be one of the best out of all 32 teams, got the Hawks an exciting safety in Earl Thomas, and an anchor to the offensive line in Okung. They received RB Leon Washington via trade with the Seahawks to go along with Julius Jones and Justin Forsett. Matt Hasselbeck, considered a top 10 QB when healthy, is still the starting QB for the Hawks, and with the addition of Golden Tate via draft, their WR core isn’t too shabby to say the least. T.J Whosyamama didn’t exactly have the best of games last year, but still finished with a respectable 900 plus yards in receiving and a couple touchdowns. With Golden Tate adding that much needed taste of explosiveness, and Deon Butler’s speed, they both should help stretch the field for T.J to start his usual job as the possession WR.

With the addition of Earl Thomas, the Hawks filled a need at the safety position they really needed for years, but is that enough for the defense to overcome their other weaknesses? With Kerney’s retirement, the Seahawks don’t really have a reliable pass rusher, but the speed of their LBs should help out in the rush. Lofa Tatapu is one of the top MLBs in the NFL, and when healthy can be havoc for the opposing offensive linemen. Josh Wilson and Marcus Trufant is a very solid duo that can swat alot of passes, but again that all depends on the pass rush. Remember the rule – no pass rush means it’s gonna be a long day for your secondary.

Prediction – 8-8 2nd place in NFC West
