New Madden NFL 15 Pre-Snap Defensive Controls

In Madden 15 there are a lot of new defensive controls, adjustments, hot routes, or whatever you want to call them.  This is a giant step forward for EA Sports’ Madden NFL franchise but it may take some time getting used to the added options.

At this point, we all know about the tackle cone but those controls are essentially the same as in previous games.  This post will focus more on pre-snap controls that have to do with your secondary.

Madden 15 Defensive Controls for PlayStation 3 & PlayStation 4

To bring up the secondary adjustments, you want to press triangle as you always have.  The left stick still has the regular options of Give Cushion, Show Blitz, Press, and Base Align.  This year, the right joystick has 4 new adjustments.

• (Triangle then) Up on the right joystick makes your defenders play over the top of the receivers
• (Triangle then) Down on the right stick makes your defenders play underneath the receivers
• (Triangle then) Right on the right stick makes your defenders shade inside
• (Triangle then) Left on on the right stick makes your defenders shade outside
• (Triangle then) Triangle tells your defense to protect sticks (aka protect the first down)
