AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! My favorite NFL team!!! I will try to not be a homer as I predict the Fins’ season, but I apologize beforehand if there are any….bold predictions. Anyways, Chad Henne is in his 3rd year, 1st year as the Week 1 starter. Most NFL fans know what happened to Pennington in Week 3 versus the Chargers, as he tore his rotator cuff for the 3rd time in as many seasons, and thus Henne was thrown into the starting role he was seemingly drafted for back in 08. He did very well in the games he started before Ronnie Brown got injured and was out for the season, leading the dolphins to a 7-3 record before the loss of Brown. Then the inexperience of Henne reared its ugly head, as he threw interceptions left and right. Despite all of that, he is a very promising young QB who can become the franchise QB the Fins have been looking for since the Marino days. Part of why Henne struggled on offense can be accounted to the lack of WR depth the Dolphins had. Ted Ginn, Jr. was expected to be the Fins number one WR, but he never panned out. Davone Bess is an excellent WR, but is more suited to be the slot WR rather than as the secondary WR or even the primary, as he has very Welker-like traits. Thankfully, the Fins grabbed up All Pro WR Brandon Marshall via trade with Broncos for 2 2nd round picks. Needless to say, Marshall is a huge upgrade at the WR position, something the Fins haven’t had in a long time, and the last All Pro WR they had was Chris Chambers back in 05. Marshall will help out the already potent run game of the Dolphins, as the play actions will now be something for all opposing defenders to worry about rather than stacking the box all game long.
Now of course, we all know the Fins are the masters of the Wildcat in the NFL, and that will continue through this season as well. Ronnie Brown is in the last year of his contract, so he will want to play his best this season to play for a megabucks contract. Ricky Williams will serve as the bruiser RB for the Fins, with Pat White coming in Wildcat sets for something new to throw at defenses. The success of Pat White is contingent on whether he can calm himself down and make the passes he needs to, and make the proper reads if needed. He should serve as a nice addition for redzone sets to maximize the Fins’ ability to score touchdowns instead of FGs. The offensive line is led by All Pro LT Jake Long, and consists of alot of bruising run blockers linemen such as LGs Proctor and John Jerry, RGs Nate verner and Incognito, RT Vernon Carey, and Cs Grove and Berger, leaving alot of depth for the Fins at O-line. The pass blocking is a little iffy right now, and hopefully the line will prove themselves this season as a solid group.
The defense has some new face on it, most notably Karlos Dansby, the blockbuster FA signing the Fins did this past offseason. He will be the Fins’ leader on defense as the starting MLB, with Crowder backing him up as well as Tim Dobbins. Cameron Wake will grab the starting spot vacated by the departed (cut) Joey Porter at LOLB, and he should have a great season in new D coach Mike Nolan’s system. Koa Misi, the 2nd round pick of 2010 by Fins, will be the strong side LB, and he excelled as a LB in Utah, so hopefully he will provide another spark on defense for the Dolphins. The secondary for the Fins is extremely young, with 3 2nd year starters in CBs Sean Smith (6’3!!!!), Vontae Davis, and FS Chris Clemons with rookie Reshad Jones backing him up. Starting veteran SS Yeremiah Bell, coming off an All Pro season, will provide the run support the Fins need as well as a big hitter. The defensive line is filled with big men, unfortunately their best nose tackle in Ferguson will be out for the season with an injury. Randy Starks has been moved inside to NT to replace the injured Ferguson, and I don’t know if he can play the role well enough. Odrick, the 1st round pick of the Fins in 2010, will play DE and occasionally DT on passing downs to give some pass rush the fins desperately need out of their 3-4 ends. Merling, Langford, and Soliai are the backups.
Prediction – If Chad Henne continues to improve with Marshall, and the run game continues to be top 10 in the NFL, the Fins can finish with a solid record. The defense has some questions, mostly experience, but they should do fine.
9-7 2nd place in AFC East, missing out Wildcard =*(

LOL! @ “9-7 2nd place in AFC East, missing out Wildcard =*(”
BWAHAHAHA!
One of the ESPN analyst already predicting the Dolphins taking their Division above the Jets and the Patriots, I am a Giant fan, but I do admit if the Defense respond well this year, the Dolphins have a shot in their Division………in the other hand I don't like what I see out of my G-Men
You dont mention the addition of Mike Nolan as D.Cord?
He may be the biggest addition this year,
And will have this defense playing aggressive, offensive defense.
It will utalize Cam Wake and Y. Bell
in such a way that the rest of the NFL will recognize.
This team will get overlooked for a few weeks,
until we meet the Nyets on sunday night week 3,
Then everyone will know what we can do!
Realistically, I think the phins have at least a shot at the Wildcard if not the division,
injuries will play a major role, and dictate what happens to the 2010 Miami Dolphins.
Our running game vs. new england already looks good w. the loss of Ty Warren in the middle.
And if the jets dont get revis back, look for Marshall to rock their world, and ..well, even if Revis doese come back, I look for Marshall to consistently win the 1 on 1 vs him.
We swept the Jets and split w. the pats last year,
and then we add Dansby, Marshall, and Mike Nolan.
I think things look good this year for us, yes sir!!!
Now if only madden would recognize and correct their team rating, and some individuals, like Henne, Bell.
