Overview: The reason this formation is so effective is that it doesn’t change because of the offensive overload to the right.
Most formations automatically shift to the right to adjust for the overload, but not the 4-3 Wide 9, which makes it very effective for stopping the run.Your RE is also not a contain defender, which allows him to crash down on the HB Dive run and stop it for a loss.
