Madden 16 Money Play: Singleback Tight Slots - Deep Post

Playbook: Carolina Panthers

Formation: Singleback Tight Slots

Play: Deep Post

Setup:

  1. Put your Y/triangle receiver on a slant route.
  2. Put your running back on a wheel route

Reads:

  1. The main read on this play is to read the safety and the user. The X/square route will always beat the corner.
  2. Then the check downs (which are the slant route and the drag route) kill man defense too because of the man switch with the running back on the wheel route.

Overview: This play is a man beater, there are simply too many routes for a user to cover when they are in man coverage. The X /square receiver gets so much separation the user always has to worry about that pass. If they user that, then the slant and the drag will be open, because of the wheel route that the running back is on.

Let’s take a more in-depth look at this play.

This is how the play should look before the ball is snapped.

At this point, you can see that we are actually going to get 4 guys open against man to man defense.

We make the catch and the play ends in about a 20 yard gain.

The first 50 times I tried this play when I hot routed the HB to the wheel it did the wheel route to the right (opposite side of the man beater (X/Square) in video. Since then, everytime I try the wheel route hot route it does it to the left side… Any way to fix this?

Nvm, I figured it out… the wheel route HR auto goes to side with more space so you have to flip the play if the ball is toward the right hash mark
